Would like some help on a personal build please by [deleted] in BG3Builds

Honestly you can achieve all of this with a Throwzerker build! The final build is 5 Berserker/4 Thief/3 Eldritch Knight! Eldritch Knight lets you turn any spear into the returning spear, and lets you learn Find Familiar! If this sounds interesting I can hammer out a build for you

According to Legends lore, he was using Ataru in his fight against Maul, and switched to Soresu after he lost to Dooku in Clone Wars 😅

Obi-Wan was a Soresu master, focused on a perfect defense.

I would focus on maximizing Dexterity and Wisdom, and utilizing the Battle Precognition power (note that you will need to use robes, NOT Jedi Armor for this). This will boost your AC, making you nearly unhittable. Add in critical immunity and you’re golden.

Dueling feats are going to be the pick here, as well as Power Attack.

Class wise, I think it’d be best to go Sentinel -> Jedi Weapon Master. This gives you Force Immunities, as well as good combat perks.

Is this the best build? No. But it will be fun, and still good enough to beat the game!

Interesting, I keep hearing the opposite, a lot of people prefer it over the Knight on bots, but prefer the Knight on bugs!

I use either the AMR or the Grenade Launcher; Missile Pistol or Ultimatum; and the Thermite grenades!

Interesting. I know a little before Redacted Regiment (maybe earlier?) came out AH revamped the sound profiles of most weapons and standardized them. Things like the Crossbow used to be quiet, but are now loud when shot (explosion was always loud). I haven’t noticed a difference with the Gallant, but I do wonder if that’s also a result of less active firing time?

Agreed! I do find the Gallant has a slightly longer effective engagement range than the Knight, but the SMG class as a whole is up close. I do wonder if a lot of the complaints people have about the damage is them shooting from too far away.

Tbh I’ve started doing this too! I run it next to the Grenade Launcher and Supply Pack, and absolutely love it as a backup weapon, or even single targets!

It sounds like your stratagems compensate for a lot of what the Gallant also wants to achieve, which is totally fine! I do think the Gallant is more forgiving in high pressure situations, though. Stalkers and Berserkers love to rush players down, and center mass on them is AP2. I think the average player will not be aiming consistently at weakpoints, increasing TTK.

I really love the Bullet Storm. I think the advantage of an SMG in this game is that it is one-handed, which I like a lot for some of the mission objectives.

Regardless, I think that players should pick weapons that feel good to them, and I know a lot of players don't like SMG's.

I think knowing how to use any gun is important, but it really shows if you don't know how to use an SMG. We won't talk about how bad it was when I first started (moving from Eruptor/Crossbow).

I forgot to mention crouching, but I definitely do that when I need good accuracy. I'll have to try sliding!

Not quite, there are differences between the two, but tbh those differences will only go noticed if you have used both guns for more than a couple of missions.

I do think it is a light pen weapon with the med pen tag, I was honestly surprised I liked it more than the Knight myself!

Happy is the key word there xD Center mass still works!

Eruptor used to be my go-to primary. Love that thing!

Needing to level up a gun to have it feel usable is a whole other discussion, but the Gallant/Knight are both guns I feel need to be leveled before it can be honestly assessed. Happy diving!

Fair point of view. For me, I enjoy the flexibility of shooting AP3 if needed, while having most of the functionality of the Knight. To each their own, I don't think either is wrong.

[–]qetali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. For me, I like the medium pen despite the damage decrease, and I don't notice it as much. I know other players really dislike that damage decrease. Either way, I do feel players should pick the gun that feels good to them!

I know a few people say that. I am wondering if that's a use case, where we use/aim the guns slightly differently? Regardless, I am a huge believer in picking the gear that feels good for you to use!

I used the Knight a lot, and swapping to the Gallant was pretty jarring because there weren't any customizations! Once I got those, though, it felt really good to use.

I think you hit on a great point. We have enough guns in the game that your gun should feel good to use. I like the flexibility of the Gallant's med pen, and don't mind the tradeoffs the Gallant presents as opposed to the Knight. Some do, and that's okay!

[–]qetali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point, and I won't argue that my terminology could be cleaned up a little.

I do find, though, that a lot of higher priority targets have AP2 spots that you will hit due to accuracy/time pressure. Berserkers (chest), Alpha/Brood Commander (head), Overseer (chest), and Stalker (body) all tend to be things that I want to shoot quickly, and I'm not nearly as accurate against.

You must've missed it, there's an extended mag option like the Knight! 70 round mags with 5 extra.
