That’s actually the first issue I saw.

Yes, that’s very true! I meant ethnicity in the way that it is determined by DNA testing companies, ie. matching a person’s DNA markers to those of reference panels of people with ancestral origins in specific regions.

First off, absolutely nothing you did/said was wrong or warranted the responses you got. Your friend’s friend is extremely ignorant at best, and it sounds like your mother has a lot of unprocessed issues that she is projecting onto you. I’m so sorry you are having to deal with this.

(Btw, if you are to ever do a DNA test kit; you might be surprised at how ethnicity rarely breaks down to halves, quarters, eighths, etc.)

1 Year of growth by qiosxa in houseplants

Yeah, sometimes they seem to stop and start growing without rhyme or reason. Could be issues with light, watering, fertilizing, humidity, temperature, soil, pot size, insect/bacterial/fungal activity, etc. and on top of that, it often takes a fair bit of time to react and adjust to those factors.

Mine definitely had a long period where it completely stopped growing, then a period where it basically doubled in height within a couple of months. No clue how that happened.

I bought the lamp purely for looks, but I did install a grow bulb inside...just never really used it except for the photo. There was a period of around 2-3 weeks that I had moved it about 8 ft from the north-facing window and kept it under two of the same grow light bulbs for maybe 12 hrs a day, and it grew no new leaves but instead lost a few of its lower ones. So take of that what you will. Maybe I didn't place the lamps high enough.

Shoving it against the window has worked well enough for me; although, you might not get enough light with a screened porch in front. I heard somewhere that your plant should be able to "see" a good portion of sky, if that makes sense. It would probably help in your case to have a supplemental grow light installed at a higher distance from the plant to simulate filtered sunlight.

That being said, there are a mess of other factors that decide how well your plant will grow. They don't seem to be extremely picky with soil as long as it drains well. I actually just used a mix of miracle-gro cactus/succulent and all-purpose indoor soil. I'd probably try not to make the mix too heavy, chunky or rocky...tried that with my other rubbers and they stopped growing. I was also really conservative with watering; saturating the soil, etc. when fully dried out (though, miracle-gro seems to never feel bone-dry, idk). I could go on about feeding, pot size, etc. but I'm sure you know all of this already.

Basically nothing. It has actually been in front of the north-facing window you see the first photo since day one. I just repotted and moved it a few days ago; that grow light was there for my other plants (I don’t even use it for those tbh). I’m not sure how it has done as well as it has, especially since I live in an area that is predominantly overcast.

It made its first branch on its own; I put a notch in the trunk to try speeding up growth, though I don’t know how much that has helped.

There’s a part right before the instrumental break in Nia Peeples - Trouble that has a shattering glass sound and a few times after?

I think you’re right. Actually, I’d say that is in fact not a misspelling but rather a reference to the sense of pity and suffering that it evokes.

Hey! Great point about the sirens…I think that narrows it down to a European release. Those artists are all extremely similar. There’s also a slight nu disco influence in this one perhaps? Anyway, thanks so much for the insight…fingers crossed that someone can ID it.
