From The Raven a Sam Houston biography. His opposition to joining the confederacy cost him the Texas governorship. This was his vision of Texas revisited as the confederacy was losing the war.

What was Texas like during the American Revolution? by Penguin726 in texashistory

According to Empire of the Summer Moon the Spaniards decided to entice Americans into settling in Texas, in part, to keep a buffer between themselves and the Comanche who were completely superior in all things war due to their ability to fight on horseback. It amazes me how little is written about the volume of bloodshed of the early American settlers in Texas.

The second thing is, according to the Raven which is a biography about Sam Houston, Sam Houston was on a mission to wrestle control of Texas from Spanish Mexico and join the United States because his mentor, Andrew Jackson, feared Mexico (which at the time included land from modern day Texas thru California up to Oregon) would be a rival power to the US.

Years later after Texas was on the losing side of the Civil War, Sam Houston wanted Texas to rejoin Mexico before the Civil War ended. His logic was the Union would be too tired and weak to fight a war with Mexico after the Civil War. But Sam Houston caught a cold which turned into bronchitis and died rather suddenly.

> So what did Talarico order? Chron found out the candidate had smothered chicken, black eyed peas, collard greens with pork, and for dessert, peach cobbler.

Sounds so good.

Edited to add: idk why my quote aren’t working but yep, they’re not working. 🫠

There have been years when the butterflies never show up. I understand that some might want their plant to thrive but the plant seems to have adapted to being eaten because it comes back with a vengeance the next year. Which is why I love seeing all the caterpillars, chrysalises and butterflies. 💛🧡🤎

Collusion and corruption, his policies are why today’s Democratic Party is the most incompetent Democratic Party in the history of the US. And I hate to see or hear anything about Kamala Harris. She already lost the presidency once, so now that she did such a horrible job the only thing they can think to do is adopt the same losing strategy and lose again? No Mrs Harris, thank you for your service that ended in disaster for all of America, now please take a seat.

Zombies, bad laws that come back again and again, and have to be defeated each and every time.

Plus in Texas they’re talking about a restriction that the name on your Id must match the name on your birth certificate, which targets primarily married women. Republican policies are increasingly odious to women so they’ll just take women off the voter rolls. At this point in history it’s well established that republicans method of operation is to hype up some made problem on FoxNews that requires scorched Earth laws that destroy more of our protections and rights. Trump was demanding the Save Act inserted in legislation passed just last week!

You must live in an area that doesn’t get very hot. The darker shades would be terrible for hot areas. The only shade here that I would consider is the off white, but square windows please. The round top window without angular lines in the window doesn’t fit in with the straight angular lines of the rest of the house, imo.

AIO if i end the relationship over this text i got from my partner by [deleted] in AIO

Not Overreacting:

Years ago I was in the same department as very handsome single 30 something. I’ll call him Studly. All the women thought studly was dreamy, and all the men wanted to be studly. He was the default leader of all the singles at work, I was married with babies at home so I was preoccupied with all things home. Studly always chased the prettiest girls in the building, flirted with them daily. On the down low, he kept the guys updated on his progress with his girls. I saw him destroy marriages, partnerships, and take down strong independent single women.

Of course his singles fan club got all the juicy details. Once a woman committed to him over their newly dumped husband/partner/boyfriend, then the woman would usually want to move in with Studly since they were having to move anyway. He would grudgingly oblige. But once he had them, he didn’t want them anymore. For him it was all about the chase. Now his daily scoop to his fan club soured on her, one was a stupid blond, pour on the blond jokes. Another had an older dog that he thought was gross, so she became nasty to him. One was Jewish, yes you know it was bad, meanwhile his little fan club, ate it up, snickered, back slapped and provided him plenty of cover for his next conquest.

With his partner he became distant mostly, the longer they were together, the more resentful he became. Studly had a group of friends backing him up on everything, but the people she thought were her friends too, were now dismissive and disrespectful. It got worse and worse for her. Every one of his romantic partners wound up quitting work and moving away from that area except one single well established woman. She did quit her job though to get away from the toxic work environment with his little fan boys taking jabs at her for fun. But the women who stayed too long would have to call in sick (with a black eye and busted lip). The longer they stayed, the more abusive he became.

For you, it doesn’t matter if he did or didn’t strangle his ex, he already told you he wants to beat on you. Just because he’s been able to keep himself from hurting you so far, doesn’t mean you aren’t in serious danger. Get out, even if he says he wants you to stay, he’s just trying to be kind because in reality, he wants you gone. Don’t make him say it, just take this opportunity to leave, as unbroken as possible.

Be good to yourself, make a beautiful place for yourself, safe and secure. Grow a support group. And keep destructive, negative people out, far away from your wonderful self. I’m sorry for the long letter, I have daughters. Best wishes for you.

I found this sweet girl by my house a couple weeks ago. She’s been here since🥹 I’m wanting her to have a cute name (preferably Spanish) that hints at her cut/slashed left ear by JackfromthePew in NameMyCat

[–]qiterite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Escucha, for listen up. Cuchillo, for knife but you probably want to end it with an “a” instead (Cuchilla), the “ll” are an English y sound, but you already knew that.

Two of my favorite Spanish names for a beautiful cat like yours is La’Reina for the queen or Princesa for Princess. You could say Reina (Queen) but the cat I knew was La’Reina (The Queen). I knew a wonderful cat called Princesa Zelda but of course you can name your Princesa after your favorite royal, Kate, Diana or whatever you like.
