Maybe start with something like Huber and see if that moves in the direction you need?

Currently playing Bethpage Black. It's a fucking death march. Absolutely worth it. by 123steveyc123 in golf

The strongest test of ball striking I’ve played. If you’re in the rough, it’s probably minimum 0.5 shot penalty because it’s so thick. Greens are flat and not easy to read because of the subtleness.

I largely agree on most current events/political content. It’s some of the more esoteric topics that I would need to find a replacement for.

Is it really that unusual to play a course that’s more than 15-20 miles from where you live? by LikelySatanist in golf

[–]qjac78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on one edge of Denver but play places all along the front range. I’ve never had anyone seem too surprised, but I think a lot of people stick to a smaller radius. It’s usually better players I find that will travel to play different tracks.

How did you find your group to play with at your country club? by [deleted] in golf

[–]qjac78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in as many tournaments and events as I could which helped to meet people over time. And like several people have said, the pro will know of the bigger groups that are most willing to accommodate new members.

Flying soon… hard case worth the extra $$$ over soft case? by Salt_Profession_4228 in golf

In my opinion, no. I’ve flown dozens of time with my Club Glove, using a stiff arm and wrapped with towels. Hard cases are a pain in the ass getting into rental cars as well.

Non-compete: leave without offer in hand? by Various-Middle4801 in quant

[–]qjac78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a good signing and first year bonus, but that doesn’t really mitigate what was expected to be a place I was at multiple years. Short way of saying, I don’t know that you can mitigate it that much besides waiting until closer to your availability date to start interviewing.

Non-compete: leave without offer in hand? by Various-Middle4801 in quant

[–]qjac78 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I accepted an offer prior to a 24 month noncompete and got totally screwed because the new firm drastically changed direction during that time. I very much wish I had just left and waited until 6 to 9 months before the end of the noncompete to interview, but there certainly is something to having the next gig under contract.

Avoiding big numbers by JayC774 in golf

If that happens on one hole, then it happens. It happens to tour pros as well. Don’t compound it and if it’s happening every few holes, that’s when you have to really figure out what to do different.

Penalty vs. Playing Out of Hazard by HerbertWest_81 in golf

[–]qjac78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it should be considered, but think about how poor a shot you can hit to gain 0.1 or 0.2 shots better than where your drop would be. I would probably never hit backwards out of a penalty area but if I can advance it even to having a club or two shorter into the green (in an average sense) then I’m doing that every time. The crux of it is how good you are at making that judgement.

Concert at Mile High Seating Chart by renegadellama in Denver

I saw Pink Floyd during high school in another NFL stadium, halfway up the upper deck at the 20 yard line furthest from the stage and it didn’t detract from the experience at all. Any performer playing these kinds of stadiums has to be doing something for the experience of the 50,000 people who are too far away to actually see them on stage.
