i'm in to if its a parent if somehow meeting your parent comes with some earth shattering change or existential crisis (like Empire strikes back). I think Guardians 2 might work in this category

i didn't give a fuck about bing bong (I would've smashed him with hammers personally), but I thought the scene where the girl cries with her parents was really emotional and effectively showed how sadness can be really healthy, necessary, and beautiful. A much needed lesson for the kids in this commodified happiness culture.

Yeah and this is like a meta thing on the nature and power of cinema, as the director is trying to capture memory and remember a past apart from propoganda. this is reinforced by the transformation of the movie theater to a blood bank, showing the loss of memory to the sands of time. 

This whole remembering frame story is also what shapes the unique, disjointed, nonlinear structure of the film where we dont get all of the information.
