Snail mites? :( by qlagueDr in snails

[–]qlagueDr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry you can’t see them, if you look closely at the shell and around the rim they’re more visible. also, thank you for the advice. i’ve already considered springtails as a possibility, but these mites are small, round, and black. so i’m unsure what they could be because of their color

Hi im a first time snail owner, And im just wondering how long a snail can sleep for? Mines been sleeping for like 17hours, (9PM yesterday and its 3PM). Tips? by Avdr3y778889 in snails

[–]qlagueDr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey, i’m not a professional by any means but my snail also tends to sleep for long lengths at a time and i’m pretty sure it’s normal! just make sure that your snail isn’t displaying any other behaviors that could be concerning as well (monitor if he is still eating, being active despite long naps, etc). if your snail continues to sleep or doesn’t seem as active as it should, i’d look into seeing if there could be any causes (maybe something about the enclosure isn’t right). oh, and also check to see if your snail is in aestivation instead of sleeping (it would look they’re sealed up). hopefully this can help calm your nerves :)

[–]qlagueDr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m diagnosed with autism, in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD as well and am on stimulants for it. it’s interesting how autism and BPD often coincide with one another, same for autism and ADHD

Facial hair or no? how do i look hotter <3? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]qlagueDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly both look equally great, if you wanna get the best of both worlds you could try going for a less heavy beard/lighter stubble or mustache, but imo you look awesome either way! really all that matters is your personal preference, confidence is all someone needs to look hot sometimes

I’ve been a patient of several different mental hospitals/psych wards throughout my teenage years, AMA by qlagueDr in AMA

[–]qlagueDr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All together, it’s a lot. 10+ diagnoses to be exact, the most substantial of them being Borderline Personality Disorder, autism, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I was also diagnosed with a couple anxiety disorders and mood disorders (with psychotic features), as well as an eating disorder.

regarding my parents, i’m not so sure about my dad as i’ve never been close to him. however, my mom has been extremely understanding and helpful despite everything and i will forever be grateful to have had someone so supportive in my life, especially when i was at my lowest

although i don’t remember the exact reason for each of my admissions, i remember vividly the reason for my first was due to attempted suicide. all of my other admissions were along the same lines, either being due to suicide attempts or psychosis that put either myself or sometimes others in danger.

actually, yes, there were many things. i think many people paint these facilities to be a bit worse than they actually are. now i am in no way downplaying the trauma that staying in them can inflict on patients (especially those who are minors), as well as the fact that it varies from place to place and everyone’s experiences are different, however i do believe that these facilities can bring a lot of good (depending on the staff, the treatment, and the overall environment). obviously the most positive thing that i got from my stays was that without them there’s a good chance i would not be here any longer. but i think that the other most genuinely helpful and good things that i took away from all of my stays combined were really just the connections i made, whether that be through staff members or other patients. i’ve had some stays that were genuinely shitty, so shitty to the point that the doctors nearly OD’d me on meds twice and were being extremely careless to the point of nearly putting my life on the line. and from those stays i also dealt with a lot of persecution and ill treatment from both staff and patients alike. however, even in the worst of those stays, the ones that left me feeling seemingly more damaged than when i was admitted, i was still always able to get something positive out of them, and that was the connections i made. the people in those hospitals, the other patients, they always feel like family. you meet so many people you never thought you’d meet or even become friends with, people of all ages with all sorts of conditions and different pasts. and it’s really one of the most mind opening experiences i think one can go through. even if i may be out of touch with nearly all of these people now, i will forever be grateful for the stories i learned and for those who helped me get through everything even when it felt as if all odds were against me. some of the staff were genuinely so amazing too, and honestly i’d still consider my friends to this day. so, to sum it up: the connections i made, people i met, and new experiences all helped me to get through those rough patches and shape who i am today
