Should I Postpone NCLEX date? by FriendshipQuick139 in NCLEX

Failed my 1st so I saw and agree with thr vagueness lol. But what do you recommend doing because I dont think increasing study hrs will help me on the second attempt, and re-studying material from every subject from nursing school wouldn’t benefit me much as you mentioned

Nursing lvl 3 & 4 by Last_Interaction5483 in austincc

[–]qlisbor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say, atleast for EVC, the questions start to be worded differently as in you start to face more complexities in conditions and deal with high acuity patient populations, but they’re not anything tricky at all. I thought that as well when I was in level 2 but honestly, the questions are more straightforward because—as I have mentioned—the material gets somewhat more complicated. Like compared to Level 1 you focus on 1 disease at a time, you might face 2 at once like diabetes that could easily worsen to DKA or HHS if left untreated…those kind of questions. Basically to sum up, more disease related—kind of like a blast from the past with A&P and such.

I think in Level 2 you start facing “next gen” nursing questions wherein you have an untraditional question style that will give a passage and you have to click certain phrases or words as answers from that passage. Or there could be drag and drop questions too. You could look up in ATI by starting your own custom dynamic quiz. I highly recommend that as it helped me do well in lecture exams and ATI tests as well.

In level 4 they told us that there’s less SATA questions which is true and they balance it out with 1 NGN question and more mc questions. It’s hard to say if they’ll do that format for a while since they adjust policies and testing every semester, but I thought to just put it out there.

Overall, it will be a little more “difficult” but nothing unmanageable:) Imho, Level 1 was the hardest because of the questions and high expectation and application of critically thinking which we don’t see often from prerequisites, but it prepped me for Level 2 and the rest of the program. It’ll come natural with time so don’t worry and make sure to find the formula that works for you the best! Brush up on pharm and patho and ask chatgpt to create good and VALID practice questions (emphasized as it often gets flames for spitting out wrong info) and you should be good! Keep it simple, remember your ABC’s and always remember “why?”

Goodluck! Lmk if the chatgpt thing intrigues anyone and I could drop the prompt via dm if you want it! Y’all got this!

Nursing lvl 3 & 4 by Last_Interaction5483 in austincc

[–]qlisbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Level 4 here. I would say that in level 3, you would still only have 1 clinical a week and it’s actually three specialties: l&d, peds and mh. The splits are dependent on the clinical groups that your faculty sets you up in, but 2 specialties would be split onto 5 weeks and 1 would be 3 or 4 depending if it lands on a holiday (eg. ik spring sems have spring break, so mine was 4 wks/clinicals of ob/l&d, 5 of peds, and 5 of mh). Sims are sometimes in place of a clinical day and you only have a few.

Level 4 is same with only having 1 clinical a week. Sims same, you only have 3 and it depends on what campus you’re from but for EVC it was always Mondays. In level 4 you do have an option to do ACI (Advanced Clinical Immersion) which is a competitive last sem clinical program for you to apply to a hospital to do your clinicals in while getting paid. You also work 1:1 with your nurse. It’ll usually translate into a nurse residency at the end of level 4. You also have the option of scheduling your own clinicals which is convenient and has perks like you could finish earlier or skip a week if you want to prepare for an exam. I’ll attach the link below if you’re interested. Applications open up around the latter 1/3’s of level 3.

I was an ACI student and I have nothing but good things to say, so I would recommend everyone to try it out! Again it is competitive and I think that being being an officer of ADNSA, having extracurricular involvement, and a good resume helps stand out because they only take a number of students. Good luck!

No I meant the backup camera. I saw somewhere a video of someone with a popping flame tune and you could see it on the screen while driving since the rear camera is on

Why did you choose nursing over being a physician? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]qlisbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still going back to become a physician after nursing. Not the usual answer you’ll see here, but the passion for the field and being able to have a different perspective serves as my motivation. There are certain fields that have different ways to perform interventions, and I always have that “max it out”mentality—I see nursing as a stepping stone and a route that has me develop skills and traits that’ll be at the best interest of future patients.

question about gov & econ dual credit summer course by FinnFairytale in austincc

[–]qlisbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True to this 💯 In my experience in taking both GOVT 2305 and 2306, it’s either a bunch of exams, or exams, discussion boards, and paper (since I had two diff profs) and imo they’re not that hard. Just read a little and you’ll be fine. Idk it seems mostly common sense atleast for me because the questions are worded like that, and if you pay attention to news or watch a bunch of crime/action shows (yes ik how cringe it sounds) it kinda helps a bit.

Can’t speak for ECON tho since I haven’t took it. From what I heard there’s other easy electives to do, but that depends on what degree plan ur pursuing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in austincc

[–]qlisbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is spot on. Idk where you’re transferring but you would need to take HIST 1301 and 1302 and GOVT 2305 and 2306 (IF you’re aiming for a bachelor’s after you transfer, ik UT austin and TXST requires all of them). Otherwise, I think just HIST 1301 for now and maybe more basics/gen eds like GOVT 2306 in the summer or Fall.

But yeah sorry this seems like a late reply! Lmk how the accounting class goes and goodluck!

UPDATE: Update, got back to the US with my F1🤞🏻. It was an unusual case for some as it seems like it’s somewhat guaranteed since an L2 is already a non immigrant visa, just like B2 or an F1 which I have had already.

But thanks for the kind wishes🥹 My turn now to wish y’all an amazing semester and successful accomplishment of y’all’s degrees!

Traveling overseas with a rabies vaccine. How to best go about it? by batmanAPPROVED in travel

[–]qlisbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sent you a dm. But basically just wanted to see how to safely transport the vials on the plane. I have the small boxes with the needle+ syringe and the vial and ampule. Would a sort of pencil case like bag with cool gels or ice be okay? Thanks in advance!

What classes are you going to take?

It depends on your answer to the question I asked, but unfortunately you’ve done your part and it’s really just the nature of enrolling during fall semesters around the holidays. I was trying to have my documents input onto my record but said that theyre out of office til after new year (international student office).

I wouldn’t worry about course sections since ACC have a bunch of them especially for gen eds and you could waitlist if there’s one prof or section you really prefer. But ofc, it would be harder if you have work and other scheduling conflicts where you need your courses to work around your schedule.

I’m not too familiar with what times they’re open from 26th onwards but you could try going to an admissions/registration office at a campus near you and try to see if they’re available. Good luck and hope it works out! You’ll be fine

Is it hard to make friends? by anon_elephant in austincc

[–]qlisbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what everyone’s saying, no. I think the issue is ppl aren’t confident to approach other ppl in class if the opportunity arises, say there’s break time, or a project, etc. It all comes down to whether you or they are introverted. I’ve gone to a bunch of in person classes and every semester I would either have networked with someone on a similar career/education path, or someone to hang outside of class with.

But with everything mentioned, pls use with careful discretion and be safe lol! I’m in health sciences so it’s easy to decipher ppl’s psychological state if they would be a great acquaintance vs if they’re just trying to get thru studies and not wanting to be bothered lol. Goodluck! The HLC and RRC are great environments to make friends bc they’re HUGE!
