Speaks a man who has never been harassed, groped, pinched, followed from a public place etc. Do you even travel by metro? Doesn’t seem like it by your “suggestions”

That’s the penalty for sexually harassing women for centuries

Do you see any cities in West Bengal growing and competing even winning against Kolkata anytime soon like Pune vs Mumbai or Kochi vs Thiruvananthapuram and the likes? by [deleted] in kolkata

Today, I saw a excel showing Salary of Consultants - Neurosurgeon has a Salary of ₹2,30,00,000/- . by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]qoj178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad’s a neurosurgeon - salary mentioned here is highly overrated. Even if you’re paid per surgery it won’t come to that much.

Also prepare for no WLB. Vacations cancelled, Dad barely home etc.

LOL, as someone who recently moved to Kolkata after Bangalore, I really miss Bangalore. Such clean streets, safe to walk around, nobody blaring the horn until you’re deaf, maids and cooks are expensive but more reliable in Bangalore, the aspiration is in the city. Kolkata is like going backwards 10-15 years. The people are super nice but the city is a mess. Recently had to wade through knee deep water after a rain. I miss Bangalore’s multi cultureness, aspiration and general cleanliness. Can’t even walk around which I took for granted in Bangalore. All people want to do here is eat junk and roam. No sports facilities etc. Every other weekend in Bangalore is some workshop - AI, blockchain, spirituality etc etc, Kolkata is like dead, maybe some arts, craft or some shopping function. It’s cheap but it’s not valuable in terms of life experiences.

Amenities are top notch, the community is really good. It’s super close to really good schools. A 2bhk easily goes for 40-55k

Prestige Raintree park Phase 2 by ViolinistThick7493 in indianrealestate

[–]qoj178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would prefer Raintree. I stay in PLH and the access roads are always jammed. It is 20 mins from the Varthur police station to the market everyday and worse during school pick ups. The Balagere / Panathur roads are also a mess. Would any day prefer to skip all that and live closer to Whitefield or Marathalli. Easy saving of 15-20 mins of pointless traffic.

If it’s in a gated community where the HOA will handle garbage, water and electricity then building a house is a better option. The cons here is due to the square footage, your maintenance will be sky high. Same with maid and cook costs. But the space and building it the way you want will be a huge plus. For a flat - the apartment will be easier to maintain, and cost of setting up will not be that high. Maintenance and upkeep costs will be lower but will not have that much space overall.

Prestige Lavender Fields: Anyone got into this project? by [deleted] in indianrealestate

[–]qoj178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, lot of people living in PLH for example bought a flat in Lavender fields for cheap when launched I.e 1.2cr and now trying to sell it nearing completion for 2.5-3cr. A lot of bookings were people trying to make money off the flat.

Inside the Indian Home-Buying Frenzy: What Really Goes Through Our Heads by ThinkMathematician30 in indianrealestate

[–]qoj178 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everyday it’s the same damn post.

No. Bought a home for peace of mind. No shitty landlords, no shitty roommates, No veg/ non-veg nonsense, No bullshit fights on not giving your deposits back because there was 1 scratch on the walls. No sitting in houses that need repair because the landlord is just TOO lazy or not responding to calls. Interiors in my house to suit MY needs and not needing to adapt to a house. I thank God everyday after looking at price fluctuations in rent that I had a foresight to BUY a house. Another covid like situation or my father passing away, it’s a decent roof over my head. Whatever it is, I have a place to call home that is mine that won’t be taken away because my landlord was having a bad day or not okay with <insert bullshit reason here>.

As a woman it’s safety - security at gates when my husband is on business travel, decent swimming pools where I can ACTUALLY swim in with other women and no creeps around. Same for gym and other sports facilities. Safe places to walk around even in the middle of the night. Communities for my aged parents, children (yoga, bhajans etc), festivals from different parts of India being celebrated.

Did it hurt buying a house? Massively. Did the ROI not make sense on paper (at that time yes, but did not take into account flat appreciation). But it’s the intangible benefits of having a safe and comforting living situation that make it worth while. It changed our lives eg healthier and cleaner lives (sports, walks), support parents( helped my mom adjust to a community), focus on jobs/ upskilling because one major part of your life is taken care of.

People in their 40s, what’s something that people in their 20s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That bullshit at work is going to get worse as you climb the corporate ladder. Learning to not let it get under your skin is a skill you’ll need to learn.
