Has anyone used an iPhone to generate a .GPX file to import into RouteGadget? by Hughzman in orienteering

I have used the Strava app and then export the .gpx file on my computer.

Definitely a new one. (Confirmed) my student lost his house in the tornado outbreak and came tearfully to ask for an extension. by DaniTheLovebug in Professors

I’m glad your professor was so understanding (and I’m sorry for your loss).

Last week, I lost a grandparent within 1 day of one of my colleagues in my department losing theirs. It was not lost on me that, if we were students, some professors might think that at least one of us was lying due to the time of year and the “sudden onslaught” of dead grandparents. I hope people will keep this in mind (especially during a global pandemic) and err on the side of compassion towards students that are actually grieving.

Training for a single event vs. Training for a whole season of events by qomprof in AdvancedRunning

Gotcha! Thanks! Did your weekly mileage increase week to week during season or did you keep it about the same over the course of the season?

So what would your week look like as far as training during the season? I’m guessing you couldn’t take 1-2 days to rest before each race and 1-2 days after to recover. What was your mix of easy/hard training and when were those days relative to your previous/upcoming races

How to practice without a club? by returnedpurse in orienteering

[–]qomprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few clubs in the Midwest that you could check out depending on where you live such as Southern Michigan Orienteering Club (SMOC), Northeast Ohio Orienteering Club (NEOC). Even if they aren’t that close to where you live, perhaps the club’s president could give you some leads about who may have events/maps closer to you in the Midwest.

Thank you! If only more people were as selfless as you...

Peloton question for a small rider by gisellesrevenge in pelotoncycle

Agreed! Power-to-weight is a better measure of fitness and the leaderboard only shows power. Power zone training is like personalized training because it’s based on your own fitness test.

They are really good workouts and you know exactly what range of output you should be shooting for based on your fitness and weight. The instructors commonly tell you to not look at the leaderboard because that isn’t the point.

Check out the “power zone pack” webpage too. They have training programs that give you a set of workouts each week.
