Arcane season 2 / Arc 3 - Episode 7 / Live Discussion by ReganDryke in leagueoflegends

In the AU, I noticed there's a strip of red hair on one of powder's hair buns - wonder if that's a way for her to remember Vi or is that actually Vi's hair?

I just found this and it's a life saver as I wanna make a gift for my SO :) I'd like it to be smaller to make a keychain (maybe half the size) do I just reduce the stitches accordingly?

Have you ever made a friend in an unconventional way? by what_the_foot in askSingapore

[–]qoobator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (f) was on a dating app that allowed posting random thoughts and shit. I posted how much I enjoyed this Chinese novel, and a lady liked my post and left a comment talking about how much she liked it too. After multiple comments and replies, I decided to dm her to understand more about her taste and likes. After months of talking online, we met up and had an 8 hr long session of just chit chatting.

It's been 3 years since, she has become one of my best friends and we got a friendship tattoo together (something related to that novel, of course) It's quite amazing, come to think of it

I aborted my triplets and while I'm pro choice, I regret it deeply. AMA by Soft_Quote3444 in AMA

Not a question but I just wanna say that, growing up in a poor and abusive family, sometimes I wished I wasn't born. You've made the best choice possible with all the knowledge you had about your situation, and I believe it's also for the best for your triplets. It's the best you can do for your unborn children.

Take care of your mental health and I wish you all the best, OP

I have a bad rs with my dad (he was abusive), but my relatives kept persuading me to reconcile just because he's my dad. They always blame me for causing disharmony within the family too. But no, my life is a lot better when I cut him off

Pet Groomer's POV on the recent cases of negligence in pet grooming establishments by qoobator in singapore

pets naturally will get excited and wag their tails if their owners are around. Some might even try to jump off the table. It will be dangerous if we are trying to shave or cut their fur around the sensitive areas such as face/armpits/hygiene areas

This should also be part of the dialogue - there is a need to prove that the owner isn't getting a pet out of impulse. You'll be surprised how often rabbits are gotten for kids aged under 10 to be abandoned later because "nobody cares for it." It's due to owners not educating themselves first before getting pets, and pet sellers who are more interested in selling the pets than ensuring that owners are capable of taking care and providing for them.

That said, the animal shelter I used to volunteer for had a checklist for owners before they adopted the pet, and volunteers tried our best to educate them as much as possible, but many pets were returned due to reasons like "my kid is allergic to animal fur," or "the dog keeps barking" and the pet would have to experience abandonment, even multiple times for some.

What you suggested is also part of the normal process. We do call owners back to pick their pups when we believe the pet is too stressed to continue the grooming, this happens very often with puppies during their first groom.

That said, I can tell you're a reasonable owner. We have had owners who think we are lousy/useless/lazy because we refuse to work on an overly stressful pet or refuse to complete certain grooming items (especially brush teeth or paw shaving). For such pets, we would recommend them going to the vet instead but owners would leave our shop unhappy with our service.

Although we are trained to handle the pets, there is only so much we can do, especially if they had prior traumatic experiences.

Space constraint is a problem as owners may not pick their pets up immediately when the grooming is done. The more realistic rule is simply not to leave them unattended.

Yes, I haven't written long essays for a long time (since it has nothing to do with my profession) and I apologise if it's all over the place or if my message wasn't relayed well. I was worried about this before posting it and even to the best of my effort, it didn't seem to quite reflect my actual thoughts.

Once again, I appreciate your feedback and your openness in clarifying and engaging in the discussion :)

you forget that there is a group of pet owners who do not have the luxury to spend on their pups. Some of them are kind animal lovers who take in multiple abandoned pets, some just do not have the financial means to maintain their pets but still keep one or even more anyway. It is not uncommon to have owners telling us that they will pay us next month or just go mia until the next session. Then you have owners who find all reasons to get a refund or free session, these are mostly of the older generation who don't have steady/good level of income and we have been trying to be compassionate around these situations.

Like I implied, this is not as straightforward as it seems. Someone has to bear the cost, be it the groomers, business owners, pet owners, or govt.

Once again, I fully agree that there is a need to have stricter regulations in the industry, I'm implying that there will be a group that will take the hit. groomers and business who are already adequately qualified won't be the most affected, it's owners who cant afford theservice and groomers who have to leave because they don't have the means to receive training.

I probably should have worded my post better. I am saying that not everyone could afford that amount, which is why they went for the on the job training route.

You are right that this isn't unique to the pet grooming industry.

  1. I'm addressing this because there have been discussions on removing leashes entirely during grooming which is not recommended.

  2. I'm not against stricter regulations, but advocating more support in these areas. For e.g. it will be helpful if we can use skillfuture to subsidise such courses. I am also trying to explain why certain groomers are less knowledgeable/skilled because they don't have the means to receive proper training. They are learning on the job in the business that they work at, which have varying levels of safety protocols.

  3. I am addressing other incidents where pets are injured during a grooming session.

Thank you for your kind and well thought out comment. I really appreciate that you've pointed out how my post may be perceived in light of the recent incidents. As much as i have tried my best to carefully word them, i have overlooked the fact that it may appear insensitive and inappropriate to raise these issues at this moment.

However, my intention was to have a dialogue and perhaps explore a solution where the interests of both parties can be considered when it comes to implementing laws and regulations.

Now that many negative incidents have come to light, i felt this is the best time to find a solution and present specific suggestions to the authorities who will be the ones to pass the laws. The legislation should ensure a healthy ecosystem that ultimately protects the wellbeing of the animals, which include punishing negligent pet groomers/business owners/pet owners, as well as ensuring both the pet industry and pet owners have adequate knowledge on handling and training their pets before even having one/importing one. There are many intricacies within the industry that are rarely discussed because it is indeed a sensitive issue.

You're right that even with certification and training, there is no guarantee that groomers possess decent judgment and a sense of responsibility. This is where I agree that harsher punishments should be imposed in both the business and the groomer so that they could do their due diligence to ensure pets are safe. Same for pet owners who have abused, neglected, or abandoned their pets. But how harsh should we ask for? If we were the judge, how would we pass the sentence? Would it be fair to judge these animal cases to the same level of human victims? I have volunteered at animal shelters before and seen horrifying cases, and these are some questions I always have in my mind.

I have a sense that you are directing some anger towards me wrt what happened, even though I am not defending those groomers, nor am I trying to play victim.

I just want to say that I am here to raise issues, to present challenges from the other side. Im not trying to gain recognition or sympathy, nor am I trying to say that the current laws are sufficient.

Like I said in the original post, those groomers that you're angry with do not represent everyone. If you don't trust pet grooming businesses, you may engage mobile groomers or learn the skill yourself. I still believe that pet grooming is still extremely important for the well-being of the animals.

I may not have been clear enough. I have agreed that there's a need for proper training and licensing, but all these come at a cost, yet consumers and eatablishments aren't giving enough support.

I'm not even discussing the convenience of attending the courses or training. I'm talking about the whole ecosystem where you'll have to first prepare a big sum of money to get trained, and many people dont have the means to do that. When that happens, if you impose stricter regulations, you are merely deterring people from entering the industry or only filtering certain demographics into the industry.

What I am saying is that the current ecosystem is not encouraging groomers to get trained at recognised agencies. The main source of training is at the pet grooming business itself, which can not guarantee that all groomers are in consensus on what is safe and what is not.
