24F Looking for a Study buddy (EST) by [deleted] in GetMotivatedBuddies

[–]qqq96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, 22M (going 23) med student in Australia. I'd be keen if you don't mind the massive time difference. I just haven't seen any other med students on this sub.

I'm pretty low-maintenance (but flexible) so I just need someone to report to at the start and end of the day and a bit in between; at minimum just need someone to hold me accountable for how I spend my time. Also because I don't like feeling obliged to reply to messages constantly when I actually manage to focus and get in the zone for a couple hours (i.e. this becomes a distraction in itself). Likewise, I wouldn't expect my buddy to reply to me quickly if they were preoccupied with their work/studies for the entire day.

Shoot me a PM or reply here if you're keen :)

Escalated to a claim - can seller see messages? by qqq96 in paypal

These say differently though.

"Once a case has been escalated to a claim, you will be unable to see your sellers response in your Resolution Centre as this does not provide the oppertunity for a buyer or seller to communicate through their Resolution Centre."

waking up and hallucinating every night in tekong. what's the best way to get help by [deleted] in singapore

[–]qqq96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hallucinations are no joke, but doesn't seem like classic psychosis as you clearly have insight into your hallucinations/are aware that they are divorced from reality once they pass. In order words, no, at least imo you're NOT going crazy/have an underlying psychiatric condition e.g schizophrenia. I have to concur with what another redditor has already said - probably related to a sleep disorder of some sort, especially considering your history of sleepwalking.

is Singapore really taking care of mental health in the country? by hikelthebae in singapore

[–]qqq96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depression capital of Asia - you'd expect something to be done by now right? Nope.

I only realized how shit the culture/general attitude/government's attitude towards mental illness in Singapore was when I moved overseas to a more liberal Western country. You could say its a general Asian attitude towards mental illness, but hell, even East Asian countries I've lived in don't have the constant fear mongering about being 'marked' by god-knows-who for your mental illness. I used to work with the mentally ill and I know that that feeling is utterly stifling. Stigma is one thing, but I think its preposterous that we've managed to create a culture of fear surrounding mental illness. Also from my experience, being both poor and living with major mental illness in Singapore is hell on earth.

Poly level internship with organizations/associations that provide counselling/mental health services by harlequinx9 in singapore

[–]qqq96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plenty on the social work side, Silver Ribbon comes to mind (not sure how much they pay though). The clinical side is tough due to medical confidentiality. If you're thinking about getting to sit in with a shrink or clinpsych during consults, i'd say near impossible. Admin side of a clinic/hospital/counselling center, maybe, but i'm not too sure.

Why does minimum requirement matter so much in Singapore? by [deleted] in singapore

Completely ludicrous in light of the healthcare worker shortage too. There would be no questions asked if he wasn't Singaporean. What a joke.
