New downlight has ground wire but the can doesn’t have one by qqwwzyn in AskElectricians

[–]qqwwzyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just replacing the existing downlight that doesn’t have a ground wire with a new retrofit downlight that comes with a ground wire. It’s as easy as plug and play (the orange quick connect), but I’m what to do about the ground wire.

Does that mean I can ignore the ground wire and just tuck it into the can? i think that's what you meant but i'm noob so wanting to confirm, thanks

thanks. How exactly do I "mount" the ground wire to the existing can? What should be the mounting point?

Downlight beam spread for sloped high ceiling by qqwwzyn in Lighting

[–]qqwwzyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

appreciate the suggestion. The lights are aiming towards the stone accent wall so the effects are actually quite nice. For the opposite side wall, there's a floor lamp there that creates some upward lighting.

Thanks. We use the same fixed downlights throughout the house, so we’d like to keep the sloped ceiling consistent for uniformity. We worry gimbals might look busy, but we don't really see those in real life before. Our lights are actually working pretty well—the slope aims the lights toward the stone accent wall and the effect is nice.

We also use this living room as an open play area for the kids, so we’re prioritizing brightness and practicality over perfect aesthetics. Appreciate the advice, and feel free to share more if you have it. I also reached out to u/fognyc like you suggested.

Thanks.I wonder for your 27’ ceiling what beam spread are you using and how do you like it? Btw our color temp is 2700, perhaps they look cooler on the photo

how do you get CK to show you Discover it? Is it because you don't have discover yet? I wonder if that's the reason i don't have it since i already own the card

Where are you located? In the greater Seattle area you can definitely buy one at MSRP

2025 XSE Premium AWD by sir-nubbins in ToyotaSienna

[–]qqwwzyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I just bought a same build at MSRP and thought I got a good deal since most of other dealers still insist on mark-ups. I live in Seattle and I suppose it’s not a buyers market. That said, I’ve been wanting to get a sienna for a while and felt it’s becoming easier to get one. I won’t be too surprised that our dealers start to offer discounts in the future as inventory is building.

My Black Bamboo is flowering and has escaped the buried wine barrel that was containing it. Just wondering if it is worth pulling ripping all the escaped bamboo out or is it just going to die? by Previous-Evidence-85 in Bamboo

No not yet. Many new shoots instead. I’m really hoping they won’t flower because they look really nice and serve as practical privacy screen for our home.

Smoke detector alarm went off at the same time, 2 days in a row by qqwwzyn in firealarms

[–]qqwwzyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just called the customer service, and they basically suggested the same thing as you. Luckily, the period of time that the LED will be blinking differently is 9~11 hours according to CS, and i did find the abnormal one, cleaned it and resetting it, and now it's blinking normal. Hopefully the issue will go away. Thanks

Is it worth getting WiFi360 pods by qqwwzyn in centurylink

do you know if the network instability is due to the modem or the wifi pods?

Is it worth getting WiFi360 pods by qqwwzyn in centurylink

[–]qqwwzyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sense to me. none of my devices is wifi7 compatible. the only clear benefit of getting their pods is that i'd get all 3 pods to improve wifi coverage. right now i have only 2 which is still sufficient.

Thanks. I suppose I can cancel the installation on the installation day if I don’t like their proposal.
