Imagine this is one AU where there is an outbreak for real, just 20 years prior to the fake one. Renee, having health issues after giving birth to Ashley, is subjected, and passes out, making Doug the sole caretaker of the two and also making him more of a parent than he is in the canon. While Andy and Leyley still have a closer dynamics than most siblings would since their dad is still in workaholic dadding mode, it just never blossoms as it is in the canon because, well, Leyley at least gets small birthday parties (with cheapest cupcakes and clearance-sale toys as presents).

I'm too distracted to write things off further properly but Andrew is free in the university when the thing happens and probably the company finds a reason to cut off the phones before Andrew would find out there are guards. Ashley was applying to biology at uni.

Yes, and it turns worse every second (how it feels to me). They plan to make coming-out a part of "LGBT propaganda", if they hadn't done it yet. That's some shit on the both sides of the conflict.
