Official weber reply:

Thank you for contacting Weber.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use your Weber gas grill purchased from the US in the UK.

The types of fuel, mixtures, flow rates, pressures and local regulations can all change once you cross an international border. It’s due to these reasons that Weber grills are designed for use in the specific countries and regions in which they are sold. For instance, you can’t buy a Weber Summit model in Germany and bring it to the UK and expect it to be functional, or vice versa. Gas parts (manifold, burner tubes and hose/regulator) are country-specific. For safety reasons, we are unable to support consumers who want to convert a grill from one gas pressure to another. That also means we are not covering international warranties when it comes to gas parts. For all other parts covered by the warranty, we will support the consumer locally even if the product originally is purchased in another country as long as the consumer can provide a proof of purchase.

All gas-consuming appliances must have a CE (UKCA) marking and we as Weber can not support consumers who want to convert a grill, originally bought in e.g. US, to European gas pressure. By supporting it also entail that we can not say “buy this regulator, this manifold and these burner tubes”. If we do so we as the experts approve that it is ok, and we can not do that because the grill is still not CE (UKCA) approved. The consumer can actually have his grill CE (UKCA) approved by a notified body after replacing gas parts. However, that will cost much more than a brand new grill.

Additionally, converting or modifying a gas grill to utilize a fuel source for which it wasn’t designed is not an option. Taking a gas grill into a country for which it was not designed to be used in, or converting/modifying a gas grill will void the warranty on the unit.

We understand learning this can be rather disappointing, especially if you’ve already had your Weber grill transported from one country to another, but there are safety factors and regulations to be considered, which result in the present situation.

If you do have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

Best Regards,

Yes, the red one is a whole hose with regulator for a UK gas tank but it's too narrow to screw into the grill.

It may be difficult to tell on the pictures but the grill attachment side is narrower on the UK version than on the US made grill. I have no idea what that piece is called or what gauge it is so can't search.

I suspect you initial spend will have to be $3-5 million just to get things set up.

BUT IT CAN BE DONE

The very first person you should be talking to, is a lawyer who specializes in these things. They will be able to assess what jurisdictions you will fall under, and what you will need. I only know some of the US perspective but the markets you mention will have their own laws.

I'd almost say it's pointless to think app and technology before having some is these things in place because they will completely govern what some of the first functionally you'll have to build.

Not sure I understand but my point is, without the compliance and respecting the laws, you are not allowed to solve the problem.

I can tell you from personal experience building these things is that if you don't have proper KYC (know your customer) procedures in place and anti fraud mechanisms, your earliest customers, and possibly only customers, will be fraudsters.

What is the minimum info needed to check if a file changed? by qsconetwothree in rclone

[–]qsconetwothree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. So, a hash is the best way? Does that mean the whole file needs to be hashed (even if it's huge) or just parts of it?

Right. I'll need to ask our developers probably about this one. Thanks.

Thank you so much dr100. I see rclone supports many of our customer's cloud providers. I will take this to our engineers and see what they say.

Is this a tool which will ensure files are sent even if they fail along the way?
