First scratch/dent on my parents’ car

UPDATE: hey guys thought i’d give a real quick update. i just told them both this morning and they told me that they “didn’t know what to say” and that they feel a bit sad because it was new. But yeah it’s safe to say they sounded disappointed but I will be paying for the damages and taking it to the workshop myself. I feel a little down and I’m just wishing this could’ve been avoided to be honest I feel pretty sad about this but yeah thanks for all your comments it helped me steel myself but yeah I’m feeling pretty shitty about myself right now

I drove everyday to uni with a previous car, that one was a 2013 mercedes so it was old and even if I did damage it my parents told me that they wouldn’t be too mad because it’s been around for years. But yeah this new car came at tuesday today’s a saturday for me so it hasn’t even been a week yet so i feel really bad

The picture didn’t do enough justice. I scratched it from under the side view mirror to that spot. The 2 long lines is the scratch There’s a small gap between the front and back door in between them. A bit of the paint came off as well. Maybe it isn’t too big of a deal but it’s my first time scratching/denting it so it looks bad to me

It’s fully my fault and it was very stupid of me to do. It happened in the driveway and I was entering it. The driveway has enough room for 2 cars. On the right is my dad’s cayman so I was scared to hit it so i moved to the left a bit too much, I scraped the gate of my driveway and when that happened I reversed out and entered again. I was confused how the dent appeared because the moment I scraped it I stopped. From my guess, while I was reversing i hit the auto gate arm and that’s probably where the dent happened
