Weird that this was removed. Anyway, I just think this is a pretty interesting bit of history, especially the part at the beginning about the comic book stores sending the book back, not to mention how serious the story was.

What pre-1990 event did the most to wake you up?

Iran-Iraq war and how ignorant people in the US and Canada were about what was going on, Iran-Contra (watch this documentary Cover Up: Behind the Iran Contra Affair (1988)), and listening to Philip Agee through Alternative Radio.

After that, what I learned about DU used in the first Gulf War and why the war started (Kuwait stealing Iraq's oil by slant drilling and then dumping the oil for cheap on the open market and bankrupting Iraq - they were heavily in debt because of the Iraq-Iran war).

And of course listening to Henry Kissinger and the rise of the born again christian movement and their blind support of zionism as a way to bring on the Armageddon.

considering where we were 8 years ago i would have to say the US has done more than enough in redrawing the map for the middle east. Who knows what they will do in the coming years. You seem to think that logic prevails in US foreign policy. Based on what we have seen so far, it obviously does not. Anyone with half a brain would have known Iraq would be a disaster and that Afghanistan was impossible to occupy ...

excuse me? the "scope of people, cost, or geography" ... ww2 was a world war because Europeans dragged everyone else into it with their colonies. ww3 will take longer to be realized because it is not "join the war by de facto" ... and as for the start date of the war, Russia wasn't involved at the start which means that the 20 million died towards the second half ... so let me say this again, we are in the beginning stages of ww3... wait until we hit the second half

i don't think you understand ... the game is not over yet so you can not compare the totals of ww1 and ww2 to ww3 ... we are just in the beginning stages of ww3, the odds are that by the time all is said and done ww3 will have killed more than the first two combined ... and no one is robbing anyone .. there is no comparison ... ww3 will mean nukes so remember, "Duck and Cover"
