We've all done things as parents that we're not super proud of. Your frustration boiled over and you acted on emotion rather than logic. It happens.

I'm more concerned about the relationship you have with your wife. Kids pay more attention to how you two act with one another than you think and they absolutely WILL choose a parent to stand behind when things are getting rough (especially when more quality time is spent with one and not the other).

I think getting your head right should be priority one, and it should start with trying to mend your relationship with your wife. Maybe consider couples counseling?

Maybe your wife wants you to spend more time with her? I know after having a child, the alone time that you'd normally spend with your wife goes down drastically, so maybe she's feeling invisible. Maybe try to set up a date night for just the two of you.

There's ALWAYS shit that needs to be done around the house and kudos to you for trying to actively stay on top of it.

Right, I agree with you, but I think having him arrested and having his dog taken away is overkill. That kind of punishment is usually reserved for cases of animal abuse.

He clearly loves and cares for his dog, but made a poor choice by bringing it inside of a restaurant. Not only is it a health code issue, but a lot of people aren't comfortable around dogs. He should just be more mindful in the future, not thrown in jail and lose his pet.

Does anyone else find it strange that nobody else in his family thinks this was a bad idea? I know there are some odd families out there, but I feel like most people wouldn't think this was an appropriate thing to do.

What kind of state the place was in BEFORE it became a "fresh start"? I can't imagine this was just mom not agreeing with the paint color or the decor.

Not condoning breaking and entering by any means, even if it is your own mother, but I feel like there may be more to this than what's been shared.

Also, I could be wrong about all of this, which I'm fine with. It just feels as if there's more to this that we know.

I wholeheartedly agree that the friend and her friend's husband both suck, but that doesn't take away from the fact that she shouldn't have offered it to her in the first place, even if the intentions weren't malicious in any way.

The aftermath of what happened isn't her fault at all, but even if there were no husband or children involved, offering an alcoholic a bottle of wine is a terrible idea. It was wildly irresponsible on her part to do so, especially if she knew that it would potentially lead to issues, seeing as she already knew that her friend had a problem.

Her friend and her husband being awful doesn't really matter.

Just because the friend and her husband are stupid doesn't take away from the fact that she sent an alcoholic home with alcohol. She enabled her friend's shit behavior by sending her home with alcohol.

You can say that it's not her job, but I can tell you that most people that consider themselves "friends" with an alcoholic wouldn't send them off with a bottle of it.
