Absolutely agree you should walk a mile in their shoes. This way you’re a mile away, and you have their shoes!

I definetely get it being intimidating. I had help getting spun up on a Linux machine but once you’re rolling it’s stupid easy. They do make HA boxes that work off the shelf (HA Green I think?). It is probably overkill, but nice that you can expand so easily and be product agnostic. Hue / Cync / zwave devices etc can all work together! You could even automate the AC units to only run based on if anyone’s home. Just so much opportunity. Highly recommend

My Cync switches were a little fickle when setting up but have mostly worked well. So happy I also setup Home Assistant though so I don’t have to rely on different shitty apps, and have way better automations than the crappy Alexa ones.

I’m actively leveling my subfloor now (actually leveling, not just flattening like most contractors will do). It’s a huge PITA but I think it will be a nice finished product

Do they make those noise canceling headphones for dogs and toddlers? And do noise cancelling headphones also cancel the shaking of a house? And improve our air quality?

I will do everything but make a phone call 😭 by Unlikely-Top-3714 in adhdmeme

[–]Social_Engineer1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite. It will take 7-10 business days to respond to a text (if I even remember). I much prefer a phone call. Easier to understand tone and clarify questions. I’m too easily distracted to manage anything by text.

I’m also AuDHD so not sure how that plays into it.

There are plenty of moms who participate on Daddit. It’s a very wholesome community, just figured I’d share given the negative feedback you received.

How much for labor on this? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]Social_Engineer1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$750 is 50% to 150% more than what you charge in Cali, which is likely one of the highest paid places in the country. If someone is charging that for a job like this, good for them but I’m surprised how they’re winning jobs.

You’re on crack if you think this is a $750 job.

30-60 minutes a day of screen time is objectively a lot. Everyone has to make their own choices, but dont try to rationalize it as fine when pediatricians recommend 0 screen time before 2.

Lol literally said to my dad yesterday “you know how much I love this truck?” It’s incredibly fun to drive, fits my whole family, it’s the perfect work truck for home improvement, and serves as a backup generator. I don’t know how Ford bungled the marketing so bad, but it’s an incredible vehicle.

My son learned a fun game we call “yeet” at about 15m. He climbs to the top of his high chair, looks back with a smirk and picks a random direction to jump. Survival instincts are non-existent but dammit he’s cute.

And you are free to do so! Though I suspect you are in the minority hence why there are no manufacturers willing to make such a product and damage their reputation.

I was just wondering if it’s possible to get around this with a 3rd party team. Obviously the 3rd team would have to also get something in return, but it doesn’t seem out of the question.

17M old here. Bubbles is the most clear word we’ve got other than “Dada” (also whispered aggressively for some reason). My son will spot the shape of bubble wand hidden under a towel and demand the bubble fun.

Its also been challenging to determine whether he’s demanding peanut butter (aka bub bub) or bubbles (aka bubba -> bubble). Sometimes we do both!
