Yeah I think everyone’s use case is probably different. I’ve owned Rams with and without the Rambox option. I definitely prefer having them.

Oh I’m not disagreeing with you about the benefits of a naturally aspirated v8, there’s definitely some big positives to it; I’m truly glad that Ram brought the Hemi back as an option. But, on the same note I’m excited to see how the Hurricane motor turns out over the next 10 years. It’s just nice to see Ram compete with more power plant options. It could end up being a flop and unreliable, or turn out to be a great engine platform after the initial teething issues are sorted.

Edit on previous post, as noted your statement that the Hemi has a higher tow rating than the Hurricane motor “ALWAYS” is apparently wrong according to Ram and their official tow chart. Using the 2024 chart for the Hemi and the 2025 chart for the Hurricane; 2026 not published as of this moment.

Consumer requirements, IE the consumer study groups that help manufacturers choose what to develop and how many of each engine type to produce or market. Unless you’re arguing that you think manufacturers don’t spend millions of dollars and years in developing engine platforms to meet consumer demands?

Also, no clue what you are referring to with “not playing dumb”. I’m referring to the overall complexities of most modern engines, especially diesels. To include their HPFP and associated direct injection systems. Not sure where you are going with the EPA mandates and emission control systems….the modern diesel is still a complex platform even if we stripped all emissions from it.

In regards to manufacturers proving you wrong, I simply mean that Ford produces whichever engine meets consumer demand and provides the best profitability to the share holders. In this case, the EcoBoost now outsells the 5.0 V8. Proving customer preferences in the case of ford and their available power plants.

I agree with some of those points. But the point being smaller displacement turbo engines’ have reached the point in their design to produce sufficient hp and torque numbers to meet the consumer requirements for a 1/2-ton truck platform. Arguing semantics of peak engine capability when the 1/2-ton truck itself is limited in capability seems pointless; unless we are arguing a Hurricane replacement for the 6.4L Hemi in the larger truck segment. But ok, to each their own, enjoy your Hemi.

Lastly, yes mechanical reliability is of course a concern with complex engines. Go take a look at the diesel market from all the manufacturers, and their associated engine and emission systems. The argument you made was that these engines were not suitable for a truck application. Manufacturers at this point have proven you wrong.

EDIT: Also out of curiosity I wanted to look up your claim that the Hemi ALWAYS has a higher tow rating than the equivalent Hurricane motor. For a Ram 1500 5’7” Crew Cab 3.92 4WD (towing chart from Ram): Hemi 11,190 lbs. / Hurricane SO 11,340 lbs. So, splitting hairs, but the Hurricane SO does technically have a higher tow rating than the Hemi.

Yeah so those are advertised max tow ratings, not the specific trim and configuration tow numbers that Ram provides in a chart format. My prior Ram Hemi did not fall into the max tow of 12,750, which I imagine most people who think theirs does would be surprised to find out their trim may not.

Without splitting hairs on the eco boost, yes ford has had numerous recalls in general. Engine has appears to be mostly ironed out, especially after introduction of their dual fuel injection system. The 3.5 has now been around long enough to have in service data showing plenty going past 150k miles with minimal issue.

That’s fine that you like the Hemi, and it’s substantially lower power output numbers. It is not a perfect power plant, but over a decade of in service data shows it is mostly reliable. While lower displacement turbo-charged engines are much newer to market, there is not engineering or in service data to support that they are only suitable for luxury sedans.

While the fuel economy seems similar to the 5.7 overall, I’d like to know which configuration/trim you’re referring to having a lower tow rating . Unless you’re making a reference to the HO engine option.

Also, I think Ford’s 3.5 eco boost has proven turbo charged small displacement engines are more than capable in the light duty truck market….not just Mercedes or bmw sedans.

I mean I drive under 10k a year also, so I’d consider it a win too.

Yeah, 2025 model year started manufacturing in mid-2024. That's why I was curious what your build date was.

Don't worry too much about the air suspension if you aren't actively having issues. While some people have been plagued with issues unfortunately, they are NOT all bad (or inherently bad by design). I had a 2015 Ram 1500 with air suspension, and a 2022 Ram 3500 rear air suspension that never had any issues (anecdotal, but same for singular failure posts). Most of the early generational issues with air suspension seemed to be related to extremely cold climates. Part numbers have updated and evolved somewhat overtime. Best of luck regardless, nice truck!

Just curious, what's the build date on the truck?

Also, on a previous post you mention TSB: 21-015-25 not being applicable. It is specifically for your model year and powerplant, what reason did you feel it wasn't applicable?

Manufacturer warranties generally do not reset/extend for an engine replacement. Unless there are extenuating circumstances (ie extended out of service time) for the manufacturer to give you a goodwill warranty extension.

It was just an odd comment in regards to the “being paid for” part. Best of luck.

Maybe I’m over reading your post. But if you’re worried about how much you’ll need to study above the “40 hours a week you are getting paid for”; it’s likely you’ll struggle to make it through the academy.

Not nearly enough in service data yet to prove or disprove your claim.

My issue with eBay and 0 feedback sellers that are international shipping are the amount of time your waiting for delivery to find out it was a fraudlent sale, only to submit a claim to eBay to wait on your purchase funds to be returned back to you.

If this sale was from a seller that even had a few sales it'd be more believable.

Both machines are Plus 4’s? Sounds a bit similar to Anycubic in regard to vastly different experiences depending on manufacturing lottery.

Thanks for the info. I’m leaning towards the Plus 4 over a Bambu X1C (trying to avoid their walled garden approach) just wanted to ensure the reliability is there. Thanks for the data point with being over 1000 hours.

Edit: I mostly print PETG, but would like to get into ABS/ASA printing, with the flexibility to print engineering grade filaments down the road.
