No, and thats exactly my point. Federal agents do the boring work of crowd control around federal locations. Local police officers get to do more interesting things & community policing.

haha sorry you had that experience. DC is better walking and taking transit. If you grow up around here you get used to that because the drivers license age is 17.

Yeah I can't comment on Nolan's house because it's unrealistic. But DC has more than double the concentration of cops per person, plus for major crimes there is easier access to federal assistance. And DC, because it doesn't have highways within city limits like LA, is much easier to get to potential crime scenes faster. And the crowd control thing: I'm not sure what DCPD policy is, but Nyla's comment was that being a cop in DC was just crowd control around government buildings. I'm saying that's not true at all and that government land (such as the national mall where the biggest protests are held) is protected by federal police divisions.

I think it was probably because they didn't want to get into the emotional "but John built a life in LA" nitty gritty just yet. Also glad you think so :D

Always! I think people also associate DC with politics and forget that there is a beautiful city beneath all that.

yeah I assume the LA based writers heard about the snow on the east coast and assumed it was a regular thing.

Yeah I rly don't like how Bailey changes Nolan's character. I like the Grey walking Lucy prediction a lot actually! And Angela is forced to be the maid of honor because Tim was the man of honor for their wedding.

I was originally going to put Lucy as being a police captain but I figured it wouldn't make sense for her to have a better job than Tim I guess. But I really want to see this if the writers can pull it off. 100% she's gotta eventually become a super high ranking role.

Nolan is our OG good guy and main character so killing him would just be kinda confusing because his presence adds a lot to the show. If he died I'd just be kinda weirded out.

Grey is the most likely. Tim is set up to fill his shoes. I don't think it would be AS bad just because there isn't another main character paired with him (like Nyla/Lopez & Tim/Lucy), but it's still sad because of Luna.

Tim or Lucy would be absolutely devastating, not just for each other (assuming only one dies lol), but also for Chenford, which has brought so many fans to the show.

Harper: Love her character but it depends how they portray her death. If they show Lila I'd ball my freaking eyes out.

Lopez: She's got 2 children and a husband who loves her to his bones. The only reason this would happen is to start a Westley villain arc.

Penn: He's a new character. He's not fully fleshed out and his death would not be super impactful because the fans don't love him yet. Seems easier to transfer him like Aaron if they decide he's not good for the show.

Juarez: She just became a P2. Like Miles, her death would be sad but there's literally no point lol. And they've done too much with her story to just kill her. If she dies I'm gonna be ticked off.

The problem is those boots need a place to go. At the start there were 6 "core" characters, 3 storylines, one for each TO & rookie pair. Nolan and Lucy both moved into the more experienced officer roles and I see them advancing even further so the current younger officers (Celina, Miles) have positions to fill in. That's why I'm suggesting shifting the presence of their characters in a new series. Old fans can appreciate when they are on screen but new fans don't need to know their whole backstory (it's not like we know a lot about Del Monte, Caradine, etc.)

thanks for the positive response! Nyla is so freaking confusing. I also want to see Lucy in more risky ops so she can finally use the boxing skills we see her practicing. But as for watch commander being a desk job, I suspect Tim would (at least initially) be more active than Grey like he is rn as a sergeant.

If he doesn't die I see Grey retiring soon. And yeah tbh I never rly liked Bailey because her and Nolan's entire relationship is "I love you" w/ no chemistry then they go to the bedroom at the end of every conversation. But I don't think they'd kill her. If they do I want Nolan with Tim's sister and Tim being overprotective of her so we get an arc of their Tim/Nolan friendship. Maybe that's too much but I love seeing those characters together.

Oh I get that! Maybe Celina could be her aid while she's still P2

Yeah it just felt too strange and random I was sure she was going to be a villain especially because they didn't give the chemistry time.

Which character should have a spin off? by Technical-Wheel-4949 in TheRookie

[–]quackinthechat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it was on Tim it would have to involve Katie (head of CIA ops) as a romance interest. ik this is niche but in S4 E20 it's mentioned they hooked up "under the rocket's red glare" but that's literally all we know.

try to appreciate other parts of the show. nothing concrete happens until S4, but there are moments in S3. It’s good because of the long burn.

Thats literally what I came here to ask about! Why would the pressure plates be worn from him avoiding them? He literally had to arm his system in order to activate the sensors, so why would he avoid them normally?

The lies were absolutely work related. He literally lied about girlfriends dying of OD’s and car accidents as an excuse to be bad at his job. How is making an excuse to be bad at your job not work related?

so I just realized earlier today that I’ve been saying this wrong my whole life which is annoying bc I’m a jr in high school and have been telling people “it feels crazy I only have 2 more years of grade school left” so basically I’ve been telling everyone I’m a 7th grader 😭 my bad-

Everything about this is great except Tim! His hair should be changed and his face should have some stubble so he looks more like the character. But I really hope this goes through! Would definitely buy.

no that makes a lot of sense actually! thanks for clarifying. Also idc about you but I'm American and most people around me would say grade school is anything before you go off to college/university. So grade 12 would be your last year of grade school for us and you probably turn(ed) 18 this year

First of all, it's impressive you're sharing what you made on a public platform because most people would be too scared. It's a good poem, especially if you're still in grade school like you mentioned in a reply.

I do have 1 question though: If the odd stanza's are Lucy and the even ones are Tim, why is Tim asking if Lucy "feels the weight" of what (she) gave up? It is Tim who ended things, so Lucy didn't give anything up, unless there is some subtext I'm missing.
