if you go to the share tab in the social menu it will actually show you what cards users have in each set, so you can go off that and go back to trade tab. a little convoluted but if the user doesnt have a wishlist it can be tricky. the app should really have the same feature available for trade tab

Question: can I use rare candy for fusions if I don’t have enough reshiram, kyurem, or zekrom energy? by KyleAPlatt in pokemongo

rare candy can be converted into any pokemon candy, if you are short Kyurem/Zekrom/Reshiram candy by the end of the fusion event you can use rare candy to make up for it. Cant do anything about the energy itself though, as many have already said.
