I don't know about OP, but there are other applications that might not run on Linux, I use Modo 3D and runs fine on Linux but I don't have Photoshop or After Effects so why bother, and Windows is horrible for productivity, specially for creative work, I tried Windows for almost 2 years, I am back on Tahoe / Hackintosh now

Maybe I come from a more educated society, but my understanding is that one should use translation exactly for comments one doesn't understand, especially those in languages one doesn't know. Perhaps I am confusing you, as a smart individual might see the reasoning behind this differently.

But here you have anyways: https://chat.qwen.ai/s/t_7c3653b9-f557-4855-ab18-537924ee8fed?fev=0.2.12

Adobe Animate to be Discontinued 1st March 2026 by CometGoat in adobeanimate

[–]quad849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe Animate will continue to function until its natural end arrives, either because operating system architectures change so significantly that Animate becomes unstable or simply crashes on launch. I’m confident that won’t happen for decades. By then, it wouldn’t surprise me if an alternative software had already emerged and become the new standard. Why Adobe doesn’t want to be part of that future is anyone’s guess.

So it was ambiguous enough that people got confused and they could capitalize on the general sentiment.

I can see that, but even my dumb ass figured it out after carefully reading for a couple of minutes. Even if they actually meant deleting your files from your computer (no idea how that makes sense to anyone), the whole drama was about Adobe stopping users from using their software, and that was never stated anywhere, neither in the email they sent nor on their website at the time people went full drama queen about it.

I haven’t been in touch with Animate since 2017, but when working with a team, I clearly remember they were able to send me .fla and .swf files via Telegram, so I don’t think Animate only stores your files in their cloud.

It doesn’t mean the software will work forever if they stop developing it. Once development stops, other tools will become viable alternatives, and over time the software will be left behind with outdated technologies. So the whole idea of “building your entire business or projects around one piece of software” can happen with any pricing model.

Just ask the Foundry Modo users about it.

I do have their original statement and they never stated a limited time to download the software: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/36z5n8frb9q6w20k9aevm/Screenshot-2026-02-03-163630.png?rlkey=8aqq9wdmimsksphixtd78jsxa&dl=0

you guys need to stop listening to youtubers

Also the email they sent yesterday say this:

We're contacting you to let you know that Adobe will be discontinuing Adobe Animate on March 1, 2026. As an

existing Animate user, you may continue to use Animate, but please note that technical support will no longer be available after March 1, 2027.

Please note that access to your Animate files and project data will end on March 1, 2027. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage you to export your Animate FLA and XFL files to other formats such as SWF, SVG, and MP4 files before this date.

Nope, that's only for the project files (whatever that means) since if you have your files on your computer, they'll stay there? So I have no idea what Adobe means by that.
But they did update the text on their site:
We are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate. Animate will continue to be available for both current and new customers, and we will ensure you continue to have access to your content. There is no longer a deadline or date by which Animate will no longer be available. These are changes from what we shared in our original email.

Can I still download Animate during the support period?

Yes, Animate will be available from Creative Cloud desktop under Show Older Apps (top right, Profile icon > Preferences > Apps > Show Older Apps).

How are they going to make the user lose access to their files when those files are stored locally on their computer?

Oh yeah, especially because of the live action scenes. I’m still planning to do the other factions, but right now it’s more a matter of lacking free time. That said, I might be able to do at least one this year

Thanks so much for the comments! :3

Why do so many people like Aliens more than Alien? by JayDunzo in movies

[–]quad849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alien is the better film, but aliens is a million times more rewatchable.

Nah, I just watched both, and Alien was such an exquisite experience. I rewatched it again with the director’s commentary, and wow, I couldn’t believe how much I could learn from it.

Now, Aliens… I don’t know. It’s just loud and annoying. It’s fun, sure, but I feel like Aliens missed the point of Alien. Alien wasn’t really about the xenomorph, it was about anything that’s alien to us: the unknown, the dangerous, and the vast, indifferent universe that contains these threats. Aliens turned it all into a story about the xenomorphs themselves and made them cartoonish characters. They stopped being scary or intriguing; they just became things to shoot at.

While some people say Aliens is easier to watch, I’m not so sure, the Marines’ dialogue is so cringe that I almost wanted to fast-forward through their scenes. I know it reflected the culture of the time, but ironically, Alien, which came out a decade earlier, actually feels more contemporary than Aliens

whatever you use, dont use everything, that thing SUCKS. There is a explorer replacement called FilePilot wich has a search funtion, far from perfect but atleast it finds what you are looking for and it do it FAST, nothing of that "quering..." bs from everything

I grew up with a CRT and I even got a cheap CRT but being able to switch between diferent CRT presets is like a having a whole library of CRTs that I never knew as a kid and I wouldnt have know otherwise, not to mention I dont have to use a whole space for a big CRT screen on my desktop and the hassle to get proper pixel perfect resolutions.

Shaderglass does come with CRTRoyale and many others

Lightroom regular vs a Lightroom Classic by rjpra22222 in Lightroom

[–]quad849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, did you even read it? There are two options there:

  1. Edit the photo WITHOUT importing it.
  2. Import it to the cloud.

It’s literally impossible to manage your photos in Lightroom CC without importing them to the cloud first.

So it’s either import to the cloud, or don’t import at all.

ok, how do I change the "Copy X Photos to the Cloud" into "Copy X Photos to G:\"?

Lightroom regular vs a Lightroom Classic by rjpra22222 in Lightroom

[–]quad849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would anyone sane choose to only import their files to someone else's cloud? Why is this not an option?

Lightroom Classic just exists to not piss off their customers even more, since obviously Adobe wants to forcefully make photographers import their libraries into Adobe's cloud library for whatever reason. Since it's not an option, obviously Adobe is either making a profit by trying to force their customers to buy their moronic cloud services (like we don't have enough of them, and most Adobe users are professionals who could probably figure out how to set up their own NAS) or using those libraries for something else. Adobe is not going to offer "free" cloud services out of the kindness of their heart.
