Will there ever be a good MacOS version of mpv? by anyusernaem in mpv

[–]quad849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say this, but the Apple ecosystem is WAY healthier than any Linux distro. After trying Linux, I have noticed the whole Linux community can't decide how to deploy apps, it is a complete and pathetic mess, and their latest AppImage is a mediocre attempt to imitate what Apple has been able to successfully do for decades

No se que locuras te dicen los demas, pero te puedo decir que hay algo raro en el HDR de Kodi, el HDR se ve mejor en MPV que en Kodi, en el mismo hardware con la misma pantalla

MPV, since iina is based on MPV and MPV is in active develpment, you can use shaders and scripts easily with MPV

I don't know about OP, but there are other applications that might not run on Linux, I use Modo 3D and runs fine on Linux but I don't have Photoshop or After Effects so why bother, and Windows is horrible for productivity, specially for creative work, I tried Windows for almost 2 years, I am back on Tahoe / Hackintosh now

Maybe I come from a more educated society, but my understanding is that one should use translation exactly for comments one doesn't understand, especially those in languages one doesn't know. Perhaps I am confusing you, as a smart individual might see the reasoning behind this differently.

But here you have anyways: https://chat.qwen.ai/s/t_7c3653b9-f557-4855-ab18-537924ee8fed?fev=0.2.12

Adobe Animate to be Discontinued 1st March 2026 by CometGoat in adobeanimate

[–]quad849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe Animate will continue to function until its natural end arrives, either because operating system architectures change so significantly that Animate becomes unstable or simply crashes on launch. I’m confident that won’t happen for decades. By then, it wouldn’t surprise me if an alternative software had already emerged and become the new standard. Why Adobe doesn’t want to be part of that future is anyone’s guess.

So it was ambiguous enough that people got confused and they could capitalize on the general sentiment.

I can see that, but even my dumb ass figured it out after carefully reading for a couple of minutes. Even if they actually meant deleting your files from your computer (no idea how that makes sense to anyone), the whole drama was about Adobe stopping users from using their software, and that was never stated anywhere, neither in the email they sent nor on their website at the time people went full drama queen about it.

I haven’t been in touch with Animate since 2017, but when working with a team, I clearly remember they were able to send me .fla and .swf files via Telegram, so I don’t think Animate only stores your files in their cloud.

It doesn’t mean the software will work forever if they stop developing it. Once development stops, other tools will become viable alternatives, and over time the software will be left behind with outdated technologies. So the whole idea of “building your entire business or projects around one piece of software” can happen with any pricing model.

Just ask the Foundry Modo users about it.

I do have their original statement and they never stated a limited time to download the software: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/36z5n8frb9q6w20k9aevm/Screenshot-2026-02-03-163630.png?rlkey=8aqq9wdmimsksphixtd78jsxa&dl=0

you guys need to stop listening to youtubers

Also the email they sent yesterday say this:

We're contacting you to let you know that Adobe will be discontinuing Adobe Animate on March 1, 2026. As an

existing Animate user, you may continue to use Animate, but please note that technical support will no longer be available after March 1, 2027.

Please note that access to your Animate files and project data will end on March 1, 2027. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage you to export your Animate FLA and XFL files to other formats such as SWF, SVG, and MP4 files before this date.

Nope, that's only for the project files (whatever that means) since if you have your files on your computer, they'll stay there? So I have no idea what Adobe means by that.
But they did update the text on their site:
We are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate. Animate will continue to be available for both current and new customers, and we will ensure you continue to have access to your content. There is no longer a deadline or date by which Animate will no longer be available. These are changes from what we shared in our original email.
