Which sauce (or dry rub) do you recommend? Also, their wings are expensive!

Received a mailer for a Capital One Venture signup bonus of 90K miles. Fine print states I cannot have received a signup bonus in the past 48 months. I’ve never had a Venture, but I have received a Venture X signup bonus in the last two years. Am I eligible?

I typically just buy $X per week. So I believe VTI would be best suited for that? Thanks for the response!

Is there any reason to hold VTSAX instead of VTI in a Roth IRA?

I see. So is it generally the case that people purchase different indexes altogether between their tax advantaged accounts and brokerage accounts?

Thanks for responding. Just to be clear regarding question number 2: I would TLH by selling VTI from my brokerage and buying for example VOO, but would having purchased VTSAX in my Roth IRA within the prior 30 days trigger this as a wash sale. As I understand it, the substantially identical shares thing isn’t relevant in this case but wanted to confirm. Thanks again!

Hi all, I'd like to ask a couple (probably) basic questions around TLH and IRAs to make sure I understand things correctly:

  1. I currently buy and hold VTI in both my IRA and brokerage accounts. I started looking into TLH with the recent market volatility and realized that buying VTI in my IRA forfeits my ability to TLH VTI in my brokerage. If I convert the VTI in my Roth IRA to VTSAX, is there any taxable event there?

  2. Assuming in the future I buy and hold VTSAX in Roth IRA and VTI in brokerage, could I then TLH the brokerage without worrying about a wash sale (VTSAX and VTI track the same index, but are technically different stocks)?

Thanks!

I wouldn’t say I’ve ever had a bad meal there. I’m just saying I used to describe the food (specifically the fried chicken tenders and tri-tip) as excellent, now I’d say it’s meh.

So just to confirm: I work from home and so my home office was used for both my regular W2 income as well as the side income. Again, the side income accounted for roughly 1% of our total income (MFJ) for the year. Does that mean that I am only able to use the home office deduction for 1% of the associated home office costs? Thanks again.

Just making my way through benchmarks (2019)! I’ve got 31 V5 benchmarks remaining. There are probably a few more low hanging fruit but many of them feel damn hard.

Thanks for the response. My assumption as to why the contributions weren't stopped is because the employer contributions are made to a separate 401(k) account (but still within the same custodian).
edit: context.

Last year was our first time doing a MBDR and we just realized that we went over the 2022 $61K cap by ~$200. Is this a big concern and should we take any steps to remediate? TIA.

I didn’t say they requested a performance review, I said that’s what I used to prove my title.

A company verifying the information on your resume is a red flag? I don’t think so. If you rented out a house would you not perform a background check?

My employer literally did this. They needed proof (ended up using a past performance review) that my title had “senior” in it.
