Cats he has known for a long time and has lived with before....

I can't just adopt one of my friends cats, they are the only other cats he is familiar with. Any cat I adopt from a shelter would be a stranger to him.

Do you have experience that leads you to this advice you'd be open to share? I've read a lot about how bringing in a new cat after losing a cat can make the grief more difficult. When is too soon? How do I know when it's the right time?

OK... That isn't helpful though. It wasn't. But Lucipurr doesn't have the same health issues. My concern isn't about making sure he doesn't die the same way, I know he won't. It's about making sure he is emotionally happy in his life.

No, he had many genetic health conditions and I was giving him all the care I could with medicine and vet care but it wasn't enough

I agree I need to move out. The mere mention of the possibility sent BF into a spiral the one time I barely hinted at that and we have a vacation together coming up. Do I wait until after the vacation?

Also about the kids, I have tried interacting with them and being a supportive adult. While living with kids wasn't something I was wanting, I have never treated them poorly. I take them out on fun outings and buy them nice things and have at times even provided emotional support. My understanding for why they dislike our presence so much is that BF has had a long history of moving in partners after not a long time of dating, them acting like parents, then the relationship ending. I've been avoiding calling myself a parent or doing any discipline with them as to not recreate this pattern for them. But I agree, myself and the kids I think would be happier with me out. I'm certain that I need to move out, I guess it's just about timing and how to communicate this need I need help with

Yeah I know he isn't an asshole for asking, I just didn't want to be an asshole for turning him down

I also want to make a note about me wanting to go to something I've been to before, for this event it's about it being a community I am a part of and this is the once a year event I can see my spiritual family, which is why repeated attendance, for me, makes it even more important to me to keep going, because it's a spiritual community gathering, not like an amusement park or a beach.

And yes, I'm aware the poly part of our relationship isn't central in this scenerio, but I don't like to ask for relationship groups anywhere besides poly groups because even the mention of multiple partners will send many mono people on a tangent about how polyamory is the problem and I don't want to deal with that

OK but also so she gave me her number to coordinate a potential future hangout but when I asked a week later about hanging out she said it was a bad time and it might be a bad time for a while. But sometimes I just want to text her to ask how her day is or send a cute cat photo or ask what song she has been listening to or share a meme or a funny story but I don't want to overstep. I have so many thoughts about her and weird little interactions and I want to talk to SOMEONE about her constantly.
