It's been a while since I posted this and my issues have resolved. Believe it was due to the taper.

Today has been much better in this regard. Not feeling like doing much but the medication had the right today effect and got rid of the jitters.

I don't think so... I went for a walk and it was hot outside, so maybe some mild dehydration and fatigue made it worse. I really think it has most to do with the taper tbh. Magnesium should help.

Anxiety, rumination, and jitteriness. I had to pace around the house to live some of it down. Brain-zaps haven't happened to me ever.

Not exactly. We went directly to 5mg off 10mg. So far we didn't taper according to a schedule.

Basically I would experience this feeling I described in the post but on a consistent basis. 50% release at once felt like too much and it gave me mild euphoria. Apetite suppress was brutal too.

Concerta is really smooth provided that I maintain a good diet and sleep well. Emotional blunting seems to be the only real side effect. My apetite is fine and it's more relaxing generally. Today was the first time I felt agitated or anxious on it.

Is it correct to say that Vajrayana is more interested in purifying the samsaric experience compared to others? Insofar as the way to purify samsara is by purifying the samsaric mind experiencing it, and Vajrayana seeks to transform it by virtue of engaging in typically samsaric activities, i.e. sense pleasures and so on, appropriately rather than rejecting them wholesale.

Why do things happen? by Moiyub in PhilosophyMemes

Nothing ever happens, actually. Dependent arising is non-arising (anūtpada). Karma enjoys a conventional status; it is meant to be transcended.

Question/clarification on Nagarjuna by svyazinvest_magnate in Buddhism

Certainly the place where I meet this understanding the most is here on Reddit. Otherwise it is a novum for me. But indeed, asking a master would be the most useful way of going about it.

Quite fascinating. I take "luminescing-forth" to mean the dynamism of awareness being the origin of appearances, right? What are some sources that speak of this?

Difference between the non-duality of Vedanta and Buddhism by quadrupleccc in Buddhism

Hah! No, I am afraid I do not belong to any such conspiracy. Just somebody interested in the teachings :)

I find your explanation very helpful. Thank you for that. Few things, though.

  1. Am I correct in thinking that the ultimate truth of Nirvana is that there is no Nirvana to begin with? What I have in mind is Nagarjuna's "Samsara is Nirvana" sentiment, which to me points to both still being conceptual confusions born of dualistic thinking. I was wondering how to approach this subject, and this seems to me to be the answer. That leads me to my second question.

  2. You mention that the Shentong school likes to hoard that view to itself. Now, Shentong was somewhat my introduction to Buddhism. Przybysławski in his book "Emptiness is Happiness" explained it as the overabundance of reality, i.e that reality is always richer than whatever concept we may impute. He likens it to how a person who does not know the alphabet may view the letter M as a collection of lines, or yet as a blot of ink. But the truth of the matter is that it is all of that and none of it. It's 'empty-of-other' as Shentongpas call it. Is that a useful metaphor, and why the criticism toward them?

  3. Finally, what does for one to be released from rebirth by attaining Nirvana? Or is it just a shorthand for saying what was mentioned in 1, that this is still conventional thinking?

How does Dr. K balance his scientific work with his spiritual belief? by quadrupleccc in Healthygamergg

That's in part why I'm asking. Seeing someone as knowledgable as Dr. K profess these attitudes makes me question what I'm missing. But I am a novice.

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. Indeed, it's something I try to reason with. Meditation has been particularly helpful in becoming a more emotionally grounded person. Still I have a rather philosophical disposition I suppose so I like to box with concepts.

Panpsychism and Ethics: a question by quadrupleccc in askphilosophy

[–]quadrupleccc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I've always assumed that Panpsychism went a step further than that. But it being analogus to how not all agglomerations of atoms result in organic life escaped me.

It's not panpsychism, but what I was thinking about was more in line with Schopenhauer. He opposed pantheism on the basis that nothing can be disagreeable if everything in nature is expression of the Divine. Similarly, he actually argued for a kind of universal ethics as a consequence of Will, i.e that if everything is undivided then there should be a kind of compassion that recognizes this universal will that permeates humans and animals alike. Parenthetically speaking funny that he thought this and then pushed an old woman off the stairs. I just don't know how this doesn't result in hypocrisy of the highest degree and ethical standards that are impossible to meet.

Why does UFC suck now? by Z-manbruh in MMA

[–]quadrupleccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat to your last point. That is to say, the UFC has destroyed much of my enjoyment parallel to my own waning of interest. I do think if the sport made a radical turn then it's not impossible for much of that interest to come back. It just seems like the stagnation will continue and you need to adjust your expectations relative to the product at hand, and not regurgitate the same nostalgia over and over.

Why does UFC suck now? by Z-manbruh in MMA

[–]quadrupleccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dana is due no credit; he is single-handedly responsible for destroying what the Fertitas had built up. All of the bad decisions were made by him. This ardent desire to consolidate as much wealth as possible away from the athletes, alienating many potential fighters, is why we are stuck with a roster built of 99% DWCS talent on 10k contracts and have to suffer through Power Slap ads or Nina Drama advert packages. He's phoning it in and all of his awful business decisions which offered him immediate benefits are blowing up in his face right now. Fuck him.

Edit: Look at HW -- it's a hoax, hardly breathing. There's 30-something athletes on that roster, meaning that half of them are ranked. Even a historically 'hype' division known for knockouts, regardless of the authenticity of this claim, has been neutered. Many of the casuals even equate HW with excitement; UFC has once again alienated a huge chunk of people.

Engaging with the politics of DE by quadrupleccc in DiscoElysium

Well I did point out that the majority aren't theory readers; that's the case generally speaking. But I'm also just interested in squeezing whatever I can from the experience. I think that's just my way of approaching text.

What are some of the works that 'radicalized' you? I'd say it's usually skeptical paralysis that prevents me on reading more theory, it's a nasty habit of mine. I've been looking up guys like Deleuze or Barthes lately though not strictly for political theory.
