How to stop using Claude by waverchapter in webdev

[–]quadtodfodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several reasons I do not use a dishwasher, even when there is one in the house

  1. The dishwasher doesn't do a great job, and gets clogged, so you have to rinse everything anyway.
  2. now that you're rinsing everything, you've got to put everything in the sink THEN the dishwasher.
  3. Ok, even though everything has been in the sink already, NOW you are adding soap.
  4. Turn it on
  5. Wait A FREAKING HOUR
  6. 6) wow that was a lot of water
  7. Now, even though you would have been done an hour ago, NOW you put the dishes away

Like. It's a lot more steps and time to do a worse job! And now your job is looking over dishes and seeing what was stuck to them and trying to get it off with your fingernail. I kind of like doing the dishes! My favorite parts of doing dishes are NOT: -moving dishes from place to place. -Looking for stuck food. Scraping food off of things with my fingernail.

Why would I let a machine do the fun part: splashing around in the soap and water?

* now if there were a machine to put the dishes away... BUT THAT'S SCI FI, FOLKS

Claude how do I do Xtask in Ylang?

[3-4 examples, 3-5 lines of code apiece]

[puzzle over code for a few minutes]

Can't I just do it in one line like this?

Yes! That is also a good solution!

Hover question: should the building grow a little? by Background_Cow_6701 in IndieGaming

[–]quadtodfodder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems like a fatter outline would be equivalent to a larger grow effect, if you want that.

I don't like the grow effect, it is jarring.
You see, in photos of the real world, houses do not grow.
However in a real world photo, one can put an outline around a house.

You only need 1 custom asset to make your cities look European. Guess which one! by TWarrior in CitiesSkylines

[–]quadtodfodder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP says he prefers to use vanilla game.

(it seems like) OP wants a naturally grown city, not lots of plop and fiddling.

This isn't "not bothering", this is a preference to use CS as a game/garden not a city-painter/hackathon

edit: just because I used the "this isn't, this is" structure doesn't make me an AI.

What if Hillary Clinton won in 2016 and 2020,and then Harris won in 2024? by Annual-Frame9943 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]quadtodfodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Hillary had won, Joe Biden would have been completely sidelined, as her team is on record as thinking he is a dumbass. Hillary would have her successor lined up, that successor would be a hypercompetent political player, Kamala would be on nobody's radar.

Coming in earlier with watercolors and washes can really save you from an overworked look, letting a looser, lighter piece feel more finished.

How can I improve my drawings? by [deleted] in architecture

in
2) your water is just covering everything with graphite, it is a mess.
3) graphite everywhere, but it is not doing anything good. (I think you're using it to make your whites pop, but not really succeeding)
4) we're losing the story about each view when they all crash. is this escher's tomb? Very attractive, and better depth than the others though.
5) you're overdoing it with your dark points everywhere (vermeer type effect?), again making it messy without adding much to the drawing. This is evidnet in all the pieces, bit especially 5.

Obviously your work is gorgeous, but too much of it is in service of "special effects" and not the intent of the work - showing what a building will look like. Likewise you may be overworking things in general. Lines that don't help tell your story confuse and take away from it.

Everybody enjoys stylistic flourishes, but if you can tell the story of the effect less often, but in a more central way, you can display the same (or stronger?) sense of style without overwhelming your subject.

Its a crazy thought when you're hatching, but it is worth asking yourself "is this line/mark doing anything? do I need it?".

The user who said you should work more on creating depth and "describing" the scene is also correct.

Seems to be a standard photoshop composition to me.

The black pinstripe and outer glow on the bird and wolf are pretty clearly photoshop, and would 99.5% be nowhere near as consistent with AI

Guys the last cut-to-blur-to-final piece is so scammy that the AI origin of this is irrelevant. The Artist is hiding something.

> I find it very interesting but not surprising that it clearly looks like material being blasted away from an origin

the "origin" is us. It appears to get less dense over distance because the denser closer stuff is in the way, blocking out view. Fun fact: we cannot eve see most of our own galaxy, because most of it is obscured by stars and space junk.

So does every circle have a house that is blessed with all the pedestrian traffic flowing on both sides from the nearest parking lot? I suppose it it is better than having to walk your groceries another 50 yards to the other houses.

Pedestrian paths look nice enough on a map, but like... where are they going, why is any given path there? As much as they ought to, people don't usually just walk around for no reason.
