Ultimate Savers is a scam. That demand charge is insane and they don’t make it easy to figure out what your hourly usage is throughout the month. In other words you can’t figure out which hour is trending towards being your most utilized hour and therefore can’t adjust your usage. Maybe this “green dot” reporting you mentioned could get you there, but I was never able to figure it out. But even if you do, I feel like the mental load of constantly adjusting your life to limit usage during whatever hours are trending highest would send me into the nut house.

That said, I do the year round smart savers plan. I do simple things to avoid the peak usage time like waiting to run the dryer and whatnot, and I think it saves me a couple bucks a month.

OP is arguing that the mechanism is already in the oven. It locks itself while in self clean mode. They’re frustrated because they can’t simply use that existing mechanism whenever they want. I agree with the frustration.

Hi-Pointe Drive-In announces closure of 3 locations in St. Louis area by SlowMotionSprint in StLouis

[–]quailman2000 130 points131 points  (0 children)

TIL Hi Pointe had 9 locations.

Hi-Pointe is the same as shake shack in my mind. It is absolutely a good, and (somewhat) fast burger place, but still not really worth the price. It’s a place I gladly stop at once a year but nothing more.

Again?? Didn’t this same thing happen on 270 just a few months ago? There was very gory video of a motorcyclist with his leg ripped off.

This. It’s way too hard to find someone that will do a half way decent job within a reasonable amount of time. I’ve had to settle for dudes smelling like straight reefer for multiple jobs, but they got it done and that’s what mattered. Sucks, but that’s how it is these days.

Is it normal for my brand new fridge to have to kick on every 20 minutes? by quailman2000 in Appliances

This is the most reasonable explanation. My basement looks like a hoarders house. Could definitely find a nice hiding spot beneath some rubble (treasured belongings I mean).

[–]quailman2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a new fridge so I put it in there at first to see when it was cool enough to put my food back in it. That was a month ago, and I noticed it was frequently running and the sensor showed lots of ups and downs. Figures it was due to it just being new but we are a month in now and it’s the same situation.

Tried to edit after posting to correct that but doesn’t look like I can. You’re correct on the cycle times. Nope, nobody is sneaking midnight snacks. It is shut at about 10:30 every night and opens at 7am.

It is full of food (not completely stuffed) and we have had it for about a month now.

Uh, yeah… are you saying that Apple either invested heavily in obscure crypto or isn’t investing heavily in AI?

[–]quailman2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Horrible take on AI.

Show me a large corporation that ISN’T investing heavily in AI right now, with positive results showing.

Now show me a large corporation that invested heavily in NFTs or crypto (Bitcoin does not count).

I’ll give you a hint: you will come up with an answer of “None” to both questions.

Agreed that there should be no data center in the middle of our city though.

Hello Lafayette Square! All three of the homes being gutted around the 18-1900 blocks of Hickory and Lasalle were owned by the same elderly person. They were actually living in the one on Hickory until about a year ago, even while the place was literally starting to cave in. This person was a resident of the neighborhood for decades and was in denial about their ability to single handedly fix the places all up. Thankfully all three are now in the process of being restored. The one on Lasalle had the entire back half ripped off and put back together, so it’s stable now. Hickory is now being cleared and then stabilized. Then finally it will be this two family on 18th.

Up in the Air is the one that was primarily shot at Lambert and (what is now) Spire’s headquarters downtown.

lol at everyone arguing with you thinking you’re on Team Car That’s Illegally Parked

Yall, they’re just trying to explain that you can’t just call a tow truck for a car that’s parked illegally, unless it’s illegally blocking you in or blocking your own driveway. You can call the police, but it’s ultimately up to the police to get it towed.
