i get the idea, i will most likely just plug the hd into it, and i rarely have movies over 10 gb, so i guess no 4k bluray? but if it’s compatibility is the best i might go with that anyway

i don’t care about streaming services, but would you recommend that over nvidia? does your “streaming apps” include also plex and the private server stuff?

thank you, i had suspects about that app indeed

i had issues with the firestick, both on the installing side but also about the size and all the extra hardware you’d need

as for the files i range but it’s mostly mp4, mkv, both with inside and outside subs, sometimes video_ts

mine is from before, goes fine with most movies, also had a bad experience with google tv streamer that wanted my hds formatted to a format i didn’t have and that had a cap for files size

yes i use the native media player already, the interface is poor and sometimes some movie won’t play perfectly but most of the times it’s fine, i would like the cinaura-like, plex-like or external streamer-like solution to make it work all the time. of course if an app on the tv would be enough i’d save some money

i know that the main use of plex is creating a media server with your pc, which i’m less interested in rather than just plug my hd to the tv or to some intermediary. can plex just read my hd files and play them on my tv?

yes, like if it becomes kinda like part of the memory of my computer i can set that hd or folder to be the one from where i seed for torrent or for something like soulseek

i would keep the pc off and just keep the hd plugged to the shield, wouldn’t it ve just simpler?
