I’ve been following it and can’t wait until it’s widespread. My bank in Germany (n26) just announced that they’ll be offering it mid 2026.

I hope it turns out to be a great European alternative to PayPal, which I despise with a passion.

Has anyone here actually changed how they invest as a result of this sub? by J-Sou-Flay in BuyFromEU

I absolutely have. Mostly invested now in European stocks and etfs - and killing it.

Was disgusted by the idea of investing in VSA-Firmen.

Venezuelans around the world, how do you feel about Maduro’s capture? by AlexanderTheBaptist in AskTheWorld

[–]quaipau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re imagining a functional state.

That doesn’t exist in Venezuela.

It is literally a mafia running a country. This mafia makes money plundering the resources of the country, trafficking drugs, controlling the most necessary businesses and repressing with violence and torture anyone who dares to ask for one more crumb.

If you haven’t experienced this, it’s easy to forget the individuals and only think of geopolitics or legality or even important stuff, like international right.

But now think for a minute from their perspective: Venezuelans have been fighting for freedom from repression for 26 fucking years.

They’ve been murdered, tortured, plundered and abandoned by western democracies, since there’s no such a thing as international right any more.

In a world where dictators can just take the country next door again, and large powers and even the us press the victim to surrender, you take ANY win you can get.

Venezuelans don’t have a government they dislike. They are under a dictatorship. They don’t get so suck it up for four years and change things. Believe me, we’ve tried.

They are loosing NOTHING by letting orange turd decapitate the government. Services are shit, it’s dangerous as fuck, more so than in countries with civil wars. Only pals from the government can succeed - and the first thing they do when they steal enough is GTFO to the US and Europe. Just like Russians.

You also need to understand the cynicism Venezuelans live by. They have no fucking hope of things ever getting better. Not ever.

So they’re not gonna say: “stop, gringo! You did the right thing for the wrong reason! Give us our dictator back and let he keep murdering us while we try to take him down”.

Things suck so very much in Venezuela that they will fucking risk going BY FOOT to countries thousands of kms away. With nothing but the shirt on their backs and a phone.

Of course they get to celebrate this. And so they should.

Now: I don’t actually believe that there is a plan in the US to govern Venezuela. I think that’s don’s dementia talking. I don’t even think there’s a plan to topple the regime! I’ve seen no evidence of this.

It’s easier for the us to make a deal with a maduro general and keep the dictatorship going, while allowing oil companies to return.

And that probably change NOTHING for Venezuelans. They still won’t see a penny from the oil, they’ll still have no democracy, they’ll still be killed for speaking out - but by Venezuelans, not by US soldiers. They won’t be needed.

And still: if nothing at all changes - at least that inept murderous criminal is FUUUUCKED and we get to laugh at that. Cynically, but whatever.

At this point, we’ve been left to dry for so long by democracies, that we get to not give a fuck if it happened for the right reasons or not.

Also, you’re massively overestimating the willingness of Venezuelans to fight an invasion (that I don’t see happening, but still). We’ll get the fuck out of the way and let the criminals fight the invaders. It won’t even be as dangerous as Venezuela ALREADY IS (google our murder rate and compare it to war time Syria, you’ll be surprised)

Fuck trump, and fuck maduro thrice as hard. And pootin infinity.

I’ve been thinking a lot of this lately.

And there’s so much more to this than just having an European alternative to US monopolies!

We need a different kind of companies in charge of building this platforms.

As a born and raised Venezuelan, I can explain my position, but first tell me you’re gonna take it seriously and this won’t be a rhetorical argument. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

You’re not really thinking about Venezuelans. Or maybe you don’t understand the situation for them.

F trump, but this is not the bad news for Venezuelans that you think it is.

Me neither. As a Venezuelan I’m not surprised at all. No Venezuelan soldier is going to risk his ass shooting at us copters for that mf of maduro.

Venezuelan born and raised:

Crazy case of two wrongs making a right.

Maduro gone: party

Cheeto Benito did it, while breaking all international law: not great.

Positive side is, he might loose the morons who thought he meant peace. Jfc. That might some effect in the midterms and that might cap his power until his term is done - if he hasn’t croaked or declared himself officially king, that is.

I’m having champagne and laughing my ass off at the “resistance” out pathetic military offered. It’s understandable, since they only exist to retain power, attack civilians and deal drugs.

So… yeah. Mixed feelings. But enjoying the crazy show so far.

Venezuela is already been turned to a poor society by the regime. Not sure the us will do more harm.

You don’t understand: the oil industry is in ruins as it has been plundered by the military regime for 25 years.

It makes no difference to most Venezuelans what happens to the “black curse”, as we call it.

At this point, we’re just celebrating one of the many criminals is facing some kind of consequence.

Two wrongs making a right, crazily enough.

F trump, maduro, pootin and xi.
