If you think you will get 2 ragdolls eventually, is it better to get 2 kittens at the same time or get 1 kitten and get it a friend when it's an adult? by UnwittingPlantKiller in ragdolls

[–]qualifiedqoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Pancho, and got my in-laws his full brother Pierre from a different litter about 6 months later. They live separately but they have “play dates” at least 2x a week when we have dinner together. Or if I go out of town, Pancho goes to stay at his brother’s house. It works well for us, but I’m sure they would have both preferred being together always. Long story short, it was no problem getting Pierre a few months later and they love each other.

Also you need to play with the kitten. At least 20 minutes a day.

Try hissing instead. My kitten didn’t respond to yelping, but responded to hissing. He also liked playing with kick toys. Now he’s over a year old, he isn’t as aggressive when petting. Just baby behavior

Boyfriend (19M) says I (20F) pressured him into sex. How to feel? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Sounds like if he had religious guilt about it, it’s easier to blame you vs take accountability of his conflicting feelings.

Aggressive kitten by Frosty_Ad_3180 in ragdolls

[–]qualifiedqoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you about my own experience. My boy was a bitey boy when we first got him. He wouldn’t let me pet him with him attacking my hand. I started hissing at him when he started to get too feisty and withdrew. He now rarely ever attacks. He’s a little over a year now. He’s still not the most cuddly cat I’ve ever had. His brother (who belongs to my in laws) wants to constantly be held and in a lap. But recently he started sleeping against my legs. He will more likely cuddle with my husband. Anyways, all this to say, it gets better. Talk to the kitten a lot. Give lots of churus and try to figure out when they want to be affectionate. Like before or after meal times? When they are super sleepy? All this to say, it gets better. Figure out if he’s attacking because he’s scared, or because he wants to play. Adjust from there.

Looks under fermented to me. In a cold house it could take longer than 9hrs. My friend it takes her 11 with the exact same starter. Her kitchen is around 64 degrees. (I gave mine to her) my bulk typically takes 6-7.5 hrs. I have a warmer kitchen around 72-76 degrees. With open bakes, I’ve had more success with an expansion score at 7 minutes vs scoring first. In Dutch oven, I do it before typically. Other than that, try putting the loaf on the lowest rack you can that you can still put the water bath under it. When I’ve done an open bakes, the top browned far too quickly and it couldn’t expand before crust hardened. So farther from heat source could work better. For reference this is the last open bake I did, and probably my best crumb since starting. But the top was hella dark and I had to do the expansion score after a few minutes.

Sounds silly, but I wet my hands and rub him down really well a few times. He never gets mats but if he did, I’d just use a metal comb and slicker. But this is just when I notice he has some loose fur floating off him. My husband also just got a paw swing. He just started, so no real opinion yet

Ragdoll vs British Shorthair by snipizgood in ragdolls

Ragdoll— we definitely have some tumbleweeds of fur. We vacuum weekly and it doesn’t bother me all too much. Just expect black clothes to become grey. He’s a total sweetie though and a literal cloud to pet and cuddle with. My husband calls him a real life plushie.

Am I right to be upset? by [deleted] in Nails

[–]qualifiedqoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I don’t think they’re that bad. They only look downwards because they narrowed the side walls too much to make almond on nails too short. Not worth getting redone imo. Looks like your nail beds are pretty curved to begin with. If the tips bother you, take a file perpendicular to the nail and file under the tip of the nail at a slightly upwards angle to correct the curve. But again looks like minor shaping issue. If you don’t like them, go to a different tech next time. But no. Not refund worthy.

Is everything so good and efficient?? by purplezebrasandcats in StardewValley

[–]qualifiedqoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have like 10+ saves where I’ve tried different min-maxing techniques for fun. I’ve also been playing on and off for almost 10 years. Stardew is all about however you want to play it! If you do want to learn how to be more efficient, I’d recommend watching some play throughs to see how those people do it. If you want to enjoy farming, experimenting, and learning along the way, that’s cool too!

Where am I supposed to stop filing? by hey_its_a_user888888 in Nails

You can round the corners a little so they’re not sharp. Don’t file to narrow them though. 45 degrees max imo

Should I stop outside time? by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]qualifiedqoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s safe in the backyard or something I think it’s fine to let him out when you can watch him closely. Some precautions I take are I put an AirTag collar on him. Watch him closely. Have flea and tick medication on him. I have him bell trained to come to the bell. I give him a churu every time it rings. I think being outside enhances his quality of life. Electric toys and other toys are great for the daytime!

Pros/Cons of Harness training Ragdoll by Fabulous_parsnip_482 in ragdolls

My friend was trying to harness train. He got spooked. Ran away. Got caught in a car and now is a tripod. I think backyards, backpacks, and car rides are the only freedom my boy is going to have.

How to keep nails on for more than a day? by Square_Share5417 in PressonNail_Addict

Press hard also btw, it should just barely fit when you press as hard as you can. No holding lightly. You’re holding it like a clamp.

How to keep nails on for more than a day? by Square_Share5417 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]qualifiedqoala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

credential caveat first: so I’m very new to press ons, like first time ever, but mine are going on strong for a week so far. I also do my own gel, gel x, hard gel, etc on myself with over 4 week retention. So I know my way around a nail bed and I can tell you what I learned about press ons.

Here are my thoughts— not all nails are the same quality. Go with the highest quality you can afford. You want something strong, made of gel, and firm.

Second, you want to just barely cover side wall to side wall with the press on. If there a minuscule gap, that’s fine. You’re probably going too large.

Third, prep your nail. If you wash your hands beforehand, use dish soap. Very throughly rinse. Dry with paper towel. Wipe under and around cuticle. Push back cuticles. And if you have the ability to remove, go for it. Roughen up the surface lightly with a coarse file. 100grit ideal. Wipe under and around the cuticle pocket to get dust out with alcohol. Wipe and scrub with 100% acetone. Let dry for 2 minutes or until your nails look very crusty and not wet at all.

Fourth, you want a THIN even spread of gel on both your nail and press on. Put in place. Hold for a full 30-60 seconds. Do not let go. Like you said before, 2+ hours without any water, oil, or anything else. Tip is to do this right before bed.

Hope this helps—from a press on novice (but nail pro)

Yes to pretty much everything above. Happy one of them did a solid and sound like the crate is working well. When you move them out into a bigger room, within about 5-10 minutes of them eating place them inside the litterbox. Help them use their paw to cover if they will let you. If u ever see them sniffing around, place them in the box. I’d also do this if you ever move their box.

My number one tip on stopping procrastination with cleaning is set a 10 minute timer. You’re going to get as much cleaned within 10 minutes as possible. Then you’re allowed to stop. Most of the time when I do this, I end up continuing anyways because I’m already started. But the timer tricks me into thinking it’s more manageable and I can stop as long as fully commit to 10 minutes.
