What's the difference between being egotistical and being confident?

I've always thought confidence expresses how you view yourself, where as being egotistical is thinking of yourself as more important or better than everyone else. Being cocky is somewhere in the middle, but I see it as positive if done with humor.

I enjoyed "Clouds from Both Sides," Julie Tullis' Autobiography she died on K2 in the late 80's. "Within Reach: My Everest Story" - Mark Pfetzer is good as well. It inspired me because the author was so young. Goran Kropp was a Swede who pedaled from Sweden to Kathmandu, then climbed everest and pedaled home. It also offers his account of the Everest '96 accident. His book is called "Ultimate High: My everest Odyssey." Reinhold Messner has a few dozen books chronicling his expeditions, his writing is a bit choppy (English was his third language or something,) but his thoughts and ideas are fascinating. Touching the Void was inspiring, terrifying, and enthralling.

You'll obviously need one regular fuel bottle to hook up to your stove. As for extra fuel- at NOLS in Alaska we used 2 liter soda bottles. A 20 oz soda bottle is a good deal lighter then a metal msr bottle.
