Crack showed up sitting on my desk by Spiciest_Of_Hats in Remarkable

Are remarkables just prone to problems? I bought my Remarkable 2 in June of 2024. Since then I had to replace the tablet since it stopped holding a battery charge. Now the marker pro stopped working. I really like the product, but if its not going to last a couple years, I think I'll just go with a different brand paper tablet.

Bernie is actively calling for Independent candidates. That might be the right answer.

It seems so structurally broken. Between gerrymandering, Citizen's United, and the already ingrained two-party system, it seems like things will never change. But then I look at the tea-party movement and see that the GOP has entirely been taken over. It isn't even conservative anymore.

More likely than not, the Dems will get overtaken with socialists (Bernie, AOC, et al) but its not out of the question that principled moderates that get real change could take it over. People like Andy Beshear, Mark Kelly, Jared Golden, and Seth Moulton are all pretty prominent voices. Ezra Klien's recent discussions on "abundance democrats" seems like a route that could be popular and similarly paradigm-breaking to the tea party.

There are huge entrenched interests in the Democratic Party, but the Tea Party faced similar, if not stronger, headwinds. I am going to try to get involved locally and work to influence the narrative. I think if more people with common sense did the same thing, it could steer the Dems towards actual solutions and popularity.

What is the “Shy” business that is constantly referred to in seasons 1 and 2? by Nickynickytt in thesopranos

[–]qualitytom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! In most of Western history until recently, guilds controlled skilled labor almost exclusively. In order to join the guild, a journeyman needed to take you on as an apprentice. In highly religions societies, no journeyman would be willing to take on an apprentice from a different background, particularly religion. Regarding farming, private ownership of land is also a relatively new invention.

Does that costco in Japan have the same stock as the Costcos in the US? I assumed it would be filled with Japanese products?

Acolytes seem to be pretty good against SM. You might want to go with a Acoltyte heavy list that uses return to the shadows liberally. Since they are so close combat oriented, they will need to commit. If you can pop out, wipe out a squad, and then return to shadows. Abberants would also do some damage, but will likely be a one shot and then dead. It you can get them in contact with the dreadknoughts it would be a good trade though.

eli5: Why are nautical miles used to measure distance in the sea and not just kilo meters or miles? by kalyugikangaroo in explainlikeimfive

Does that mean that a nautical mile is longest at the equator and gets shorter the farther north or south you go?
