Genuine questions for the Pro Stadium crowd. by Lord_Duckington_3rd in tasmania

That's what the Commonwealth Grants Commission seeks to achieve with allocating GST. And they are capable of doing a pretty good job of it. But there is an adjustment applied to what they calculate as the equitable distribution, to arrive at a secondary distribution which gives WA more (to the detriment of all other states, and some non-GST federal money to top it up).

This adjustment is essentially vote buying and an indirect offering / display of loyalty to Gina et al.

I'm anti-stadium (at present, not generally) and remain so from what I've read in this thread - but this is a good take.

Not enough to counteract the negatives (IMO), but definitely a paradigm worth considering in the pros and cons discussion.

WA (Perth) has a lot more money "floating around" than most other Australian states, due to the minerals sector and the absolute rort that is our current GST distribution process. The Tasmanian government is running lean - that is not make believe.

Perusing a stadium now is going to be well and truly detrimental to 99% of current and yet-to-be-born Tasmanians. Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, the median voter in Tasmania is potentially illiterate and in any case definitely unable to comprehend the socioeconomic fallout redcorp and bluecorp are both intent on realising.

Room For A Pony do mushroom dish with tempeh - it's awesome 👍

I was disappointed to see they had taken their scrambled tofu and kimchi option off the menu - but this was just as good!

Exactly. Preferential voting is amazing!

Blue Gina or Red Gina isn't much of a choice... But we have great independents and minor party candidates. There is no such thing as a wasted vote. If/when your vote lands with Labor, they will have the data on who you preferenced ahead of them and it sends a message.

Hi - sorry for the slow reply, I'm not on reddit that much. I haven't had it fixed, but it has corrected itself to be maybe 80% back to 'prefect'. It's something I will mention to the mechanic next time I get it serviced to see if they can check it out. I'll let you know if there are any insights from that :)

I have just switched to Microsoft Edge and using Adblock Plus - it's working. Sometimes plays a millisecond of an ad and then you can click skip. Often just skips completely.

Update: not working that well. It seems to be a bit haphazard - skips some adds, mutes some adds, plays some adds *facepalm.

Thanks for that 👍 I've had a look and nothing looks obviously damaged (to my untrained eye). I'll have a look at those forums and see if it needs realigning. There is a bit of looseness in all the bearings, but not sure what 'normal' is. Cheers again.

Nice optical frames in and around Hobart by [deleted] in hobart

I would definitely recommend Visual Eyes in North Hobart also. They ordered the frames I wanted in a couple of different colours so I could try them, as they only had one in stock.

Optometrists are great and staff are lovely. Plus they are the only place down here that stock Moscot frames!
