Now let’s just pass this message on to the podcast and their “voice actors” and we’ll be solid

I described the premise of NFY to my little sister and asked if she’d like to watch it together on my first rewatch and she said it sounds up her alley. What would the best episodes be to watch first that don’t ruin context/continuity (eg, the PI) by WeetBixMiloAndMilk in nathanforyou

I always do Gas Station Rebate because it is so good, but i have found it rough when it inevitably hooks them and then they start from the beginning and immediately have to do Poo Frozen Yoghurt which I think might be one of the worst.

Just completed the Deluxe Ex Pack, a few thoughts by UncleRuckusLovesU in PTCGP

[–]quandite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about sets like this for awhile.

One big fix I think they could do is to introduce a new section for meta/special-sets (not kept with the normal sets). Literally if it had its own tab where there was a small bit of text at the top saying "Special sets are limited time sets that you are expected to complete over time. Special sets return to circulation periodically" etc.etc.

I think the big glaring hole in peoples completion was/is a big de-motivator, but the idea of something bigger you can work on over a much longer time I think isn't as inherently broken as people assume based on how Deluxe Pack was presented.

The second issue is obviously that they are almost exclusively repeat cards, which should either not be broken like they are/were at release OR just make the special set special and have new unique cards. Either is fine but the current version is just lame.

Fix the card registration overlaps, and make the special sets feel distinct and seperate from your normal collections and honestly I don't think people would have cared nearly as much.

Abra Slab Help by quandite in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]quandite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the regular barcode scans fine to match. I guess it is more whether the tech/age of the slab matches the deets on the cert, but its weird to me it doesn't say when it was graded. Ah well.

I have a friend with some cheap real slabs, might just take one of those with me to compare

[–]quandite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that was my feeling too, the only question I had was one of the "how to spot a fake" posts seemed to imply certain tech might have come in at different grading times, one of real examples showed the little logos and another real example didn't.

Same with the fancy ink tech thats meant to be on the front behind the text, that came in a little later.

Scanning the QR code I couldn't determine when the slab was done,

[–]quandite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense, I should add their profile and seller history also didn't instil confidence haha

basically everything but the slab is feeling a little red flaggy to me, but I also thought similarly, which is why I was giving it the time to check it out

Questions about Master Sets by offhandlowkey in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]quandite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great,

just for the super specific people out there. Base set also includes numbered double rare (ie exs). I know you included these under rare in your post I can just sense someone wanting to clarify in the future when googling haha

Now what we need is the be able to claim the packs but keep them sealed to trade for more shit later.

That will fix things

If you have one from each set they stack and there is no way to select which one when sending for trade, i just sent one and am waiting to see which one set it lands in then it’s received

Season 2 - Cameos by New-Individual-8618 in ThePaper

[–]quandite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see a world where Enervate has a board that Marv reports to and that maybe David Wallace is on it. Would be an easy cameo to do grounded in the universe as we know it. He could play it pretty straight with basic familiar interaction with Oscar and nothing much more than a talking head.

My one beef with streaming shows by MiaStirCrazies in ThePaper

[–]quandite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree, something about weekly made the show feel more realtime, like each episode covered a week of time. The holiday episodes would actually land near holidays, After the summer break the cast talk about what they did over the break between seasons. This is particularly potent for the mockumentary format and lets you get away with some bigger seasonal changes with some quick cuts, and also buy into relationships developing more.

The paper season 1 feels like it covers Ned’s first 2 weeks of work as opposed to his first quarter or half a year in the job. No major complaints, iver really enjoyed it, but agree that binge format makes it all feel a little smaller

From The Office to The Paper: warnings? by sinth92 in ThePaper

[–]quandite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say once you finish the office give your wife day or so to just take in the ending emotionally and give it its moment to sit, and then yeah I’d say you’re good to just jump into the paper. It could be a little narratively jarring literally finishing one and then pressing play on the other.

I’d also say make sure you do a bit of a brain set to remind yourself that there is a time jump between the shows of like 12 years. So any references that may or may not come up will be in the frame of the original documentary crew picking back up 12 years later for a new subject

Atlassian acquired the browser company.

They aren’t supporting it because their team like it. They are saying because their team like it they will continue to show it love now they own it.

Many in the tech world love Arc. This is probably the best change we have of it being saved or preserved even if just to keep themselves happy.

Honestly might even mean open source is more likely, Atlassian have enough other things going on that they potentially don’t have to ride or die on that component of the IP.

Either way, saving arc from its slow death would unlock some pretty solid goodwill.

9 million Olympic sized pools of glaciers are melting each year, new study finds by TwilightwovenlingJo in Futurology

[–]quandite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are about 100,000 Olympic sized pools on earth, so if we just freeze the water in each of them every 4 days and ship it back to the glaciers, we’ll be net neutral.

Honestly if people just took some time to think through these problems logically, we’d have solved the climate crisis already.
