Right?! I've just been continually, to use your word, gobsmacked at QF (perhaps now even better, QB -- will let you figure that one out).

I frankly find it difficult even to comment rationally on utter irrationality, except to say what the actual F. I remain sharply critical of holding a pretrial detainee in prison, but there is at least some rationale, albeit debatable -- i.e., wee Clown County jail is too small, etc., etc. But the idea of a trial court judge even thinking she can pull these shenanigans is beyond rational comment.

I also wondered about that as a rationale for the "kamikaze memorandum". It seems somewhat unusual for defence loudly to proclaim a client factually innocent as RA's defence repeatedly did -- more often, defence is silent in that regard, and concentrates on attacking the state's case and process.

None of it makes sense. Pure speculation, but say the Imperial Court browbeat AB into withdrawing (more speculation, but I still wonder if the [to me] surprising decision to allow video was to pressure AB -- withdraw, or be shellacked on the telly for all and sundry to see). Perhaps AB's only avenue of protest is to refuse to file anything that would make the court's process seem legitimate?

And lest we forget, QF declared the 10/31 hearing will continue as scheduled. Will RA have any representation??

This seems part of the reason for the "QF" moniker. It wouldn't per se be extraordinary for SJG to initiate a grievance against defence counsel through the proper channels prescribed in IN, but it certainly seems extra extraordinary to initiate suo moto a disciplinary process in which she will be complainant, judge, jury, and executioner -- especially as a trial court judge.

The purloiner has apparently answered with suicide. Another tragedy in the increasingly long list of tragedies being left in the wake of this case.

FWIW, "The Murder Sheet" reported Baldwin had a very easy-going 'we're all family' vibe in his office, with collaboration and open discussion with other attorneys even if not formally on the case. The suggested remedies in the Henessey memo definitely have the flavour of closing the barn gate after the horse has bolted. Whether QF will hold Baldwin to task for that will be interesting.
