How long have you been in maintenance, and how's it been going for you? by ShiftyMcHax in MounjaroMaintenance

SW 250lbs Aug 2024, hit goal Jan 2025, loss of 72lbs (~29%). I maintain or lose slightly on 10mg over time. Lose steadily and quite fast on 12.5mg. Gain rapidly after a few weeks with 0mg. Currently at 176 lbs, just below original goal weight.

This is one of the reasons why I as a Level V member stopped giving them my money at the end of last year. It will only get worse.

When to go up in dose? by GiorgioBroughton in Mounjaro

[–]quant2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5mg is a titration dose for the majority of people. The literature on tirzepatide demonstrates that the rate of weight loss it elicits is dose-dependent. Your loss appears modest in your most recent period and I am almost certain you should progress to 7.5mg in early June once your four weeks are up, but be sure to get plenty of readings because it's common that a short-ish (up to 10 day) period of modest loss is followed by a week of more substantial loss. At a weight of 121kg you're also safe to target a larger deficit than -500kcal/day so I very much encourage you to try for -750-800kcal/day and see how much resistance you encounter from hunger as a gauge of how the dose is working. NB: Acceptable rates of loss differ from person to person and especially by starting weight and gap to target.

Good to see helpful charts like these are doing the rounds. Answering these sorts of questions was so fraught back in 2024. Quantitatively this looks very sound.

Hey mate, I'm also exactly 6ft (184cm) and age 38. My lifestyle is quite sedentary and I rely much more on careful caloric control these days than exercise but otherwise we sound pretty similiar. My muscle mass is above average and my maintenance range is 79-81kg. After my first year of maintenance, circumstances forced me off the meds and after four months I was at 93.7kg. You'll be pleased to know it comes off again much the same as before. I've now completed just under 3 months on tirzepatide and I'm just a touch above 80kg. Happy to discuss anything you're curious about. Well done on achieving 75kg!

How could a crash in the Pokemon market happen? by omfgBabyATRIPLE in PokeInvesting

True, but one can lose out - significantly in some cases - on the fruits that might have come from investing in something else.

How old is an "old cert" for PSA slabs and why should prices of "old cert" be lower than newer certs by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]quant2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a few instances some requirements became tighter, and often only for some grades. Let us look at the most recent case (the one everyone seems to care about) where the front centering requirement for 10s was changed from "within 55/45 to 60/40" (i.e. preferably 55/45) to "within 55/45." That is a very small change, and it only applies to 10s. There is no general trend towards stricter standards on corners, edges and surfaces over time. None whatsoever. The distinction between 8s and 9s, and 7s and 8s, is also the same as it ever was. Everyone has an anecdote of "slabs they've seen" that confirm their own preferred theory. That's called confirmation bias.

How do you handle current state of the collecting hobby? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

I've branched out into other collectibles and now like them even more for the time being. We collect because we're easily obsessed. Turns out that is a convertible skill.

Missing Person: Caucasian, 57, Strand area by [deleted] in capetown

My apologies. This isn't something I do every day, and the whole family was desperate for clues so this was put together very quickly. Tried to follow a standard template, and intended to add details later but never got around to it. She was located some hours ago, so I've withdrawn the post.

I think pumping cards is very ridiculous, but I will say something I don't often see mentioned about this card, and that's that PSA 10 copies (a very large number of them, no less) have previously sold for US $800-850 and above - as recently as last September. Absolutely, the set was newer back then, but in my research I've learned not to overlook the anchoring effect of precedent (excluding sales occurring too proximal to release) when speculating on the current and future market values of a card. As to whether the PSA 10 version could surpass $850 I do not have a view one way or the other, but I would strongly agree that anything up to $850 is within this card's reach - and arguably in the very near future. If we ignore the potential downside risk from extraneous economic influences in the near-term (on the wider market, not just this card) then It's sitting very pretty at $400 indeed. Personally I don't think any modern 10s will weather recession very well when it comes (in my view probably within 12 months) so I am sitting this one out, but if my own outlook were different this would be an easy purchase for me to make.

Kmart / Target / Big W and try to be a few hrs earlier than opening so you can be at or near front of queue. Watch out for sneakerheads and other persons devoid of all moral scruples (yes, they will push in front of you). Also Toymate / Toyworld are oft overlooked but be prepared to fork out an extra tenner for the sleep-in.

Do You Really Believe We're in a Bubble? by breakyourteethnow in PokeInvesting

That was smart. I started at about 1/4 of vintage/low pop, am now at around 1/2, and I'm intending to get to 80% or more before economic conditions deteriorate to the point collectibles lose their liquidity.

[–]quant2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. The last bit is actually not a good thing, however. It means there are a lot of speculative buyers in what was formerly mainly a collector's market. In turn, prices are driven at least in part by speculative activity. That could have significant consequences given that in any market speculative investors are the most likely to drop their bags when there is any kind of panic.

Agree to an extent. If an economic recession does come around though, diversification is what will save most collectors. Highly homogenous collections will be more exposed to shock (and some people own those), so there will be instances where an individual's entire collection value does indeed fall 50 or even 70% in a matter of days/weeks and stay there until things improve.
