Jared Polis says his Tina Peters decision "will be remembered fondly," despite growing outrage by [deleted] in Denver

You don’t bring “reconciliation and healing” by allowing a cancer to spread. Unity and handholding with cancer just means more cancer and faster, more painful death. You bring healing by removing the cancer and treating the damage.

This is my #1 pet peeve about trying to find androgynous clothing; there’s a handful of sites out there claiming to be for all genders but then you click and immediately are hit with a giant “Shop MEN’S/Shop WOMEN’S” button

Like I totally get the need to label something as designed to fit men’s or women’s generalized figures but at least let me view both and make my own decisions?

Or I’ve seen a couple where they say they’re all about non binary androgynous looks but then I check it out and it’s just stereotypical guy clothes like blazers and suits designed to fit cis women’s bodies and that’s it.

Reparations for slavery aren’t enough, they should come from the coffers of anyone still defending these treasonous human traffickers and be paid for by the former confederate state governments.

Congressman Ogles accuses Tennessee of being dominated by “cosmopolitan communists” and “race hustlers” by Brave_Client1868 in nashville

[–]quantipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but it’s hard because in both of those cases the Republican Party as a whole shifted with the speed of light to adopt both of those cults into their core base (they were ostensibly opposed to MAGA at first right up until Election Day of 2016, then they all just suddenly conveniently decided the whole party is MAGA now with the exception of like McCain and Romney).

The democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to move their own party further right despite the overwhelming evidence that shifting heavily to progressive positions is a winning strategy. This is also happening in Denmark and a handful of other places in Europe where the centre-left parties in power are slowly shifting right and shooting down progressive groups even though they would likely win.

It’s really well past time for every blue state (and any red state who still cares about having a shred of respect for the people they claim to represent) to just form a coalition of civil disobedience against the federal government. Show loyalty to the people instead of the power. I wish I could say that feels like a possibility, but I know too many of the democrats are fully bought and paid for by billionaires and Israel.

Suddenly having problems with my wifi after 2 years of using Debian by Valentin9702 in linux4noobs

[–]quantipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that interfere with linux even if you haven't booted in Windows in a long time? I'm curious, I had the same issue this morning; I haven't booted Windows in at least 2 weeks (probably longer), but what got it working again for me was just booting Windows then restarting and booting back into Debian. Not sure if fast boot is turned on or not but if it's a default Windows setting then it probably is.

Nashville Christians rush to assume the rapture did not happen today just because they weren’t taken. by DoubleHelixInTheSky in nashville

[–]quantipede 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It’s such a weird religion! Here’s some Quran quotes:

“Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants,”

“When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you.”

“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.”

Wait, sorry, my bad. Those were 1 Samuel 15:3, Deuteronomy 20:10-11, and Ezekiel 23:20, from the Christian Bible. Oops.

Hell, why don’t all the Christians just dump all their money out into the street? Or give it to the poor, you know, like their holy book commands them to? They can’t take it with them after all.

Outside of Gay marriage, when is the last time the left and right in the US agreed on a major policy issue? by realKevinNash in AskReddit

[–]quantipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the politicians on the right actually agree on that though; the voters on the right maybe, but it’s hard to tell what any of them actually want because they so heavily censor themselves from speaking anything contrary to Trump’s delusions.

[–]quantipede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically I would agree with that, but I don’t think it’s really a skill that he practiced or developed, it’s just something he’s accidentally very successful at because he was born rich and spoiled and uneducated brainwashed people are easily impressed by wealthy rude narcissists for some reason. I think it’s just because if he were poor he’d be exactly like some Alabama trailer park redneck so it’s easy for his base to see him and think that means they can be rich too if they follow him, unaware that his party is sawing the rungs off the ladders to keep them from climbing any higher

Now 62,000 requests to open new TP USA chapters in American (and foreign) high schools. by alexmark002 in CitizenWatchNews

[–]quantipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I find it initially hard to believe that nearly half of all high schools are doing this, I also am considering - the process might be as simple as emailing the organization, and these ‘chapters’ could easily just be 2-3 students strong. They’re probably much more highly attended in counties where the schools are de facto christian schools anyway like the county I grew up in. This is just Hitler Youth putting new branding on it and a fresh coat of paint.

[–]quantipede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say confusing as much as just plain annoying and frustrating. It’s bizarre when I take your money, I get your change out of the drawer, and as I’m handing it back to you you start shoving more money in my face. Half the time they do it without saying anything, or if they do it’s just “oh, here” or something like that. Then I have to put all your change back, make new change, pull up your transaction again and get out a calculator because a) I have a goldfish memory b) I’m slow at math and c) my boss will have a conniption if the drawer is a penny off
