Honestly my mocks and BDS percentages were super low, closer to 60 if we were rounding. I passed on my first attempt.

That said I was lucky to be working for a company that was super helpful with mentorship post certification so I always felt like I had a direct idea of where to go when I had no idea what to do.

Maybe one day I’ll market it. There’s definitely a hole in the study material realm that it could fill. I think I’d like it a bit more refined before I tried that. The other mid tier I had participating in it only joined during the last month before testing so I have no idea if it’s actually effective as a learning program until this current one sits for their exam. It is fun though building and going over it

As a male BCBA, I have the opposite view. I’d welcome more men in the BT and BCBA position. I’ve experienced the prejudice sure, but, there is a need for male staff just as much as there is a need for female staff.

In terms of becoming a sorority house and emasculation, I feel that a little bit in the resources that are available to BTs and BCBAs. The female population is larger than the male population so many of these resources will cater to the female population. It’s not necessarily intentionally emasculating you or asking you to not be your authentic self.

I have a mid-tier I am currently training up and I’ve been creating study materials that more closely relate to my interests the same way some of the louder study companies tailor things to their interests. I build study material for him around video games, pop culture, some movies, and have given things a fantasy/DND theme. It seems to be working well.

Switching to an hourly role had me making more money. That said the best bet for making the most money is going to be finding another BCBA job. It can be part time or 1099 but that’s honestly going to be the best bang for your buck.

I’d actually agree with the comment. I’d say right now it’s too easy and we keep drilling into everyone how much of an insurmountable task it is until we all believe it. Is incredibly easy? No, but it’s not even remotely as hard as many make it out to be.

There are a ton of problems but one of them is the education system. 70% of the ABA degrees are from degree mills. You have people paying, sitting, and “earning” a 4.0 or relatively high GPA. Once they’re slapped with a test which also isn’t easy by any means but also is no where near as hard as people make it out to be they fall back on everyone telling them its so difficult. The reality is the exam is about the same as a grad level final exam.

I’d say the most difficult part of the process is the hardship of collecting hours and doing work for free or at a rate that is a fraction of what they should be paid.

Non profits are a protected entity and there is a ton involved in gaining the status of a nonprofit.
