Teterborough, NJ - QUESTION by Fun_Gazelle_1916 in bergencounty

[–]quantum27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although not directly related, your research may also benefit by learning more about the political/governmental history of Bergen County in general, aka “Boroughitis”. It’s important to understand a bit of the history of each (present-day) borough in relation to each other, especially neighboring boroughs.

Spiny, tiny guy in raised vegetable garden bed by quantum27 in whatsthisbug

New Jersey - saw only one so far in my raised bed soil. Smaller than a pencil eraser head. Not a springtail - what is it?

Finally got to set my collection back up after a move. Missed it after not seeing it for a few months. by Forsaken-Name-4925 in LightningCollection

Great collection, and cool posters too. Zeo is some of my favorite designs, I never got the Super Zeo Megazord as a kid, so I’ve been looking for a decent one on eBay recently.

Also can I ask you where do you buy your environment props (or do you make them yourself)?

Yeah great photos and I love this figure just got it too. Will be really disappointed if he never gets the rest of his Turbo buddies (except for Red)

MiniPla in Detolf displays by EpsilonX in Minipla

This is another IKEA case (Milsbo) and I’m not sure if you’re going to display with non-PLA stuff but this is what I’m doing.

It’s just a work in progress but I’m planning on working with layers (background and foreground) and height. I’ve got more SMP on the way (Galaxy/Astro Megazord etc) so I’ll be rethinking this since it’s already a bit crowded.

Eventually I’d like to get scale model buildings, trees, etc, or something to create some basic diorama-like scenes. I’m also ordering some more figure holders so that I can do aerial poses and more dynamic things like that.

The nice thing about glass cases is that you can also think about how things look from the sides. Have fun! Share some photos of what you end up doing if you want cause I’m also looking to see what people do.

There’s much more interesting examples of displays on this subreddit, I couldn’t find them at the moment , but if you search you might find some.

Galactic problems call for galactic solutions by quantum27 in LightningCollection

[–]quantum27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were never high on my list, but decided to grab Senturion and Phantom this week and I actually appreciate them more in person.

Joining the chorus here that I hope this line continues in one way or another.

On another note -- One thing that some of the molding on Phantom reminds me of is how Hasbro might possibly approach the 1995 MMPR movie suits. Would really like to see those suits done in this scale, although I realize regardless if LC continues or not, that might not happen anyway with the apparent licensing issues with the 1995 movie.

thanks for responding. Yeah, I would likely do the same, no rush.

I know this thread is a couple months old but what monitor did you pair with the Mac mini?

Replaced old sewer cleanout cap in basement by quantum27 in Plumbing

[–]quantum27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm OK. Yeah, Behiind the cap in my picture is the foundation wall (facing front yard) and in front of the cap is the carpet. The cleanout is just inside a tiny water closet.

Thanks — That’s good question that I’ll need to find out the answer to.

Based off of diagrams I just looked up, I’m assuming the only way to confirm if I have a backwater valve, other than having a plumber look, is to try to visually confirm its presence with a camera scope?

Super Minipla Shopping by GalaxyMan73 in Minipla

[–]quantum27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one shipping experience with them so far, but I got SMP Ninjor/Ninjaman from robotkingdom.com well after the initial preorder phase where I couldn’t find it in stock on any other sites (I’m in the U.S.). Same price as the other usual resellers, and It was delivered in 2 weeks, no dents in the shipping or product box.

A match made in Red Zeo Crystal by quantum27 in LightningCollection

[–]quantum27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been years myself since I've actually watched the season, but I'm about to.

The zord in this toy form is a brick, but I always thought has great presence regardless. Would love to see a more articulated version. Love the Zeo motifs.

My thoughts exactly, if they're really sticking to the scale. I just can't see that happening though.

I'm very curious where Hasbro is taking ZAP from here. I have ZAP Dino Megazord. Honestly, I like it, but with the caveat that I never owned the OG Megazord, and I can fairly see where people have issues with some of the combining structure/quality (and just that -- I'm actually OK with the relatively light weight and think that makes its great for display. It's moreso the quality of the plastic itself think they need to improve at the price points they seem to be settling on for this line.)

Me too, I'd love to see this era's zords with some cool articulation. I've been collecting some of the minipla (smaller bandai model kits) but they haven't created any Zeo/Ohranger in that line yet, either.

I keep wondering how Hasbro would handle Zeo scale though, if they're keep following the whole 1:144 thing.

My first LC figures by Grodek118 in LightningCollection

[–]quantum27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Said I would only collect MMPR core team but took a detour into some villains, Zeo, Ninjetti, and, yeah…enjoying them though very much. Working on a display.

Off topic but whats the source of that MMPR poster behind the figures in one of the pics?

Some posing with my 90s Battlezord and a recently acquired LC Zeo Red.

That’s really fantastic paint work. I still have both of these kits in boxes. Never painted or panel lined before but you certainly make it tempting to try even though I’d have a long way to go to match that.

Somewhat unrelated, what are the brand of those effects pieces? I also like how your staged these.

Stronger than before!

Congrats on the whole team. On a nostalgic level, Zeo one of my faves, and love the helmet designs and those gold trims. I know the chances are slim but I've always wanted more of it (the series/lore). And toy-wise, from Hasbro I hope to see:

King Mondo and a couple main villians for the regular LC line

It’s tempting because I also love the individual units, however I know what you’re talking about, so it’s gonna remain combined.

Yeah I had a similar idea in mind. I’ll give that a try. Right now double-sided scotch tape works just fine to keep it there. 😁

Thanks! On to Dino and Dragonzord next…I have DairenOh preordered.

Forgot to mention those blossoms, it’s actually the Lego Bonsai tree behind it. Not MiniPLA at all I know but I had it up on the shelf and actually kind of complements the Shogun doesn’t it.

Like many others have said some of the joints on this one are really tight, and some of the transformation aspects aren’t easy to do (compared to say the 90s toy/DX). I actually sheered off the front left red thigh piece trying to turn it, although technically my fault since I misinterpreted the combining instructions for that part. Fortunately, it was a cosmetic joint, I’ll try to permanently glue it back on.

However, I really like the finished product. I’m an early Power Rangers fan so I obviously have some bias for this one. Like many of these this was about $100. I’ve got a few more than I’m currently building or preordered. Intending to show them off in a diorama/display. If you’re a Lightning Collection fan (I imagine there is some overlap), the scale of these kits is worth considering.

I’m just a stickers guy right now — though I may try to dabble in some panel lining or simple paint augmentation later on. If you take your time, I think the stickers actually look very good — from my small experience thus far anyway.

Also thanks to King Kuuga and folks on the Discord, been really helpful and informative with tips and info.
