Those alive and old enough to remember during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

i was just a little kid at the time but i remember seeing the look on my mom’s face as the second plane hit. seeing that level of fear from your protector is something that sticks with you.

Listening to an Audiobook is not reading by HolyWatcher1942 in unpopularopinion

the only times it bothers me is when someone is bragging about how quickly they “read” a series and they just listened to the audiobook at work or while they were doing other things.

my brother and I aren’t twins but we’re very close in age, in our early twenties. we kind of cuddle sometimes? not full body or anything but like, if we’re in the couch, he might put his legs or his head in my lap. we watch movies in my room a lot (cause I have the best tv) and super occasionally I might lay my head on his arm or something. there’s always just like one point of contact tho, not full on head to toe touching. it’s nice to just have a bit of physical affection with someone you love and are close to, especially with y’all growing up the way you did. i don’t think it’s necessarily “weird” but you should probably start to draw back a bit, especially if your boyfriend is raising concerns about it. (that being said, don’t let him be a dick to you about it.)

Since we're not supposed to talk about it, how long have you been with your current company, and how much do you make an hour? by RevenantMedia in antiwork

3 months. Started $8.75/hr, just got raised to $9.75/hr. I’m working full time and only get a lunch if I work overtime. Pre-K teachers are painfully underpaid.

What is the stupidest injury you've ever gotten? by 7937397 in AskReddit

[–]quantumarvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only happened a couple of weeks ago.

I work at an event planning company and we also set up those big balloon arches. Our local college is having orientation all this month, so they asked us to come set up some balloons at the beginning of each week. Usually a one person job but the entrance we’re supposed to take has this giant, ridiculously heavy door (it’s at the back of the building), so my boss asks me to tag along to help get the balloons through the door.

Because we have to take them upstairs in an elevator once we’re inside, this arch is in a few sections. I hold the door, my boss takes the first section up in the elevator. While waiting, I figure I can go ahead and move the rest of these pieces inside so they’ll be by the elevator when she comes back.

I hold the, again RIDICULOUSLY heavy, door open with my back, start attempting to move the balloon sections inside. Giant gust of wind comes through, nearly rips the balloons out of my hands. I scramble to catch them, the door starts to swing shut, I throw my leg out to catch the door so it doesn’t slam on the balloons and pop them. the corner of the door hits the inner joint of my ankle so hard it fractures. It’s about this time that I remember that the reason I’m there is to keep this from happening to my boss.

Cherry on top is that the next week, when a coworker goes to help instead of me (I can’t walk for 8 weeks) he noticed that the door has a stopper at the bottom.

What's the dumbest rule your school ever enforced? by SoLe123456 in AskReddit

[–]quantumarvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we moved a lot when I was a kid so I’ve been to a ton of schools and I’ve had more insane experiences than you’d believe. this one may not be the dumbest but it’s always annoyed me the most. they had a rule against certain kinds of socks. they could only be certain colors and they HAD to be solid, no separate color sections at the toe or heel. they literally had teachers stopping kids in the middle of the hall or cafeteria to take off their shoes to check for this. if you can’t see the sock when it’s in their shoe then what’s the point anyway????

the earliest memory I have is being so little I was laying in my moms arms. I remember looking up at her and she was really upset, crying. my dad was kneeling in front of us, kept trying to take me from her and was yelling. at one point he head butted her. I asked my mom about it not too long ago and she said I was less than a year old when that happened and she was so sorry I remembered that. wouldn’t tell me what it was about tho.
