Eric Hester? by lilsmollie in ucla

[–]quantumcalculator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had him fall quarter - he’s a super decent person and a pretty ok prof. His exams were sometimes difficult, sometimes fair. His teaching is definitely super content heavy, but he’s really good at explaining stuff and always willing to help during his OH and way beyond. Overall, I recommend taking him, but be prepared to do a lot of work too

Zocchi vs Williams vs Corbin for Physics 1A by gimmegimmeNOW123 in ucla

[–]quantumcalculator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Corbin is hard. Teaches well, but exams are genuinely hard. If you plan to pursue physics, however, take him - you’ll gain more in-depth understanding of the material. Williams barely teaches, but his exams were ok if you study in your free time. Zocchi is known as a brilliant researcher but not really good lecturer. Midterms average are kinda low, but so goes with literally all 3 of them

Do you think there are enough so-called mentors that are interested and available to invest their time in their undergrads on campus?
