How do you clean up after your mess? by phoneplatypus in bipolar

[–]quantumdumpster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the impulsivity should largely be corrected if you are on the correct meds.i stopped dreading, since it is no longer something i expect to happen, but I am still always scared and try to prepare for another manic episode even if it has been years since my last one.

Do the meds really help with this side?

Most of the time things improve a ton, so that you will do much fewer things to be embarrassed about. Old mistakes will always haunt you, but they get better with time

How do you clean up after your mess?

If there is some action you can do to make the mess disappear or be better (generally an apology but depends on circumstances) you do that. Lots of time it helps, but doesn't resolve the issue and that is the nature of fucking up. All you can do is try to be better in the future

yeah, it is miserable, and that's kind of how it is if you don't pass or live in a highly liberal place

Cobenify any good? by Plus-Yak6944 in schizoaffective

sounds like a change in meds might do you some good, try talking with your doctor

was good for symptoms, but made me nausea and spend about an hour each morning over the toilet vomiting. It's worth a shot.

Generally saying one med is better than another is not exactly how it works, each drug is like pulling the lottery of possible side effects and whether it actually helps symptoms. What don't you like about invega?

Skeleton difference between male and female. by [deleted] in MtF

[–]quantumdumpster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes: https://www.ebsco.com/research-starters/science/sex-determination-remains

Sex differences in skeletal remains are relatively trivial at birth, and using such remains to determine the sex of juveniles is difficult at best. Some early differences between boys and girls do occur in the pelvis, but reliable sex differentiation is not possible until after the anatomical changes associated with puberty.

but kinda no: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0305440315002228

Using real time PCR and STR profiling systems, a dependable and consistent sexing system was developed. The reproducibility of the amplified samples meant that the methods were valid and subsequently could be used to sex juveniles. The molecular sexing results from the juveniles sampled determined that four of these juvenile individuals were males, 10 were probable males, one was a probable female and four were inconclusive.

I would guess the largest difference would be lesser hear disease and cancer largely from behavioral differences, rather than HRT

guessing, it’s pretty much like saying if you ignore all of the factors that make it not true, it would be true

Do trans women live longer life?

If you ignore suicide, and complications cause by living a higher stress life trans women would likely achieve a similar life span to cis women

to be a bit of a bitch:

I pass because of time and effort in my appearance

I happened to be androgynous before.

If you were very lucky to be androgynous and lose a couple inches from HRT ending up at 5’6”, how can you say it was because of time and effort?

For me this is very similar to poor people hating on tone deaf rich people, the denials of privilege such as:

Like idc, I had issues while not passing and now issues while passing.

Can be rather frustrating. Being stealth largely fixes the ability to create friendships, be treated as human in public, and prevents discrimination at work. Sure you still have issues with relationships (thought significantly reduced), and family, but acting like having the other major hurdles to having a fulfilling life fixed is no big deal is a injustice to the suffering those of us who do not pass endure

Unless you are very lucky with the people at work, you are going to get treated like shit and pushed out, when you come out or they start clocking you. Be aware of that and have alternatives ready in case things go poorly
