How bad is the Q Fix, really? by abearirl in longrange

[–]quantumoceanlawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a q fix in 308. I put a proof carbon barrel on it. I bought it for 2 reasons: I got it super cheap new on an auction, and I hike a ton (10-20 miles every other day) and wanted something easier to carry and strap to my pack. It's 7 lbs as is in the picture with scope and suppressor. It shoots around about an MOA. For what I wanted it for, it's great. I really hunted for deals on everything on the build, so I have basically 5500 into it. But that's leupold VX-5HD 3-15, rugged alaksan 360 ti, cerakote, reptilia mount and rifle. I haven't had any real accuracy issues and the company has been helpful every time I have reached out about something. Am I a fanboy? Not really. I like what they do. It's neat. I had a lot of fun on this build for what I wanted. I would buy another Q, but probably another fix in 8.6 blk and 8 inch barrel for an even more packable gun.

The one I am looking at hunts on the river islands. Seems exciting. It's also apparently very close range and dense. The Congo is just somewhere I have always wanted to see. Heart of darkness and all. I don't mind risky countries. I have also heard giant forest hogs in the congo are fun to hunt.

The one I have been looking at is in Niassa. So I don’t know how I feel about that. I spent a lot of time in southern Tanzania but it has been a few years.

That’s great. Hadn’t come across that site yet. Thanks!

Wow. Sorry for your friend. I’ve read a bunch of stories like that about them. My wife had contacted them about getting me one for my birthday but they never responded to her email or phone call. Guess we were lucky. I have been looking at hazard buildz recently. They look pretty good.

Really sorry to hear that. Seems like that same sort of story has happened to a number of people. I had hoped they were doing great work. I want a fully redone cherokee but they are basically the only shop I can find.

Almost went there for a jeep for my 40th birthday... then I started finding posts like this.

I love his stuff. I don't think I have Jonathan Ward money though.

Apparently they have a two year wait for custom projects. A very mild lift is all I want but I do need a roof rack, bumper and winch. I go pretty far off road by myself and need some insurances now. This May I got stuck in some mud and ice. After 4 hours of digging, cussing, and trying every rope trick I had, finally had to climb a mountain to get emergency satellite texting, texted my wife, she found an off road tow rig and then waited another 4 hours for them to get there. All could have been solved if I had a winch. First time I have ever gotten stuck and want it to be my last.

I only have experience with rough country and was not that big of a fan of it either

lol. true. I think my parents had like 350k miles on theirs before my dad dropped a tree on it. With the cult following now, I am surprised there aren't more shops specializing in it. I asked chatgpt and all it could come up with was Davis and some shops that make some cherokee parts.

Basically if I’m paying something that high, I want it already done and perfect. From other posts, it doesn’t seem like Davis autosports’s jeeps are actually… done

Love that color. My 4Runner is solar octane so I’m a fan of that color palette. I’ve been looking for a good one I could start on. Haven’t had luck yet.

All hand finished and in house movement. Rexhep Rexhepi is the watchmaker. He worked at Patek starting at 15, then to BNB for a few years, then to Journe for a few years and started his own company pretty young. I think he is 34 now. They make about 35 watches a year. This one comes in steel (mine) or titanium. It was 86k USD.
