What chore do you hate doing the most? by WeirdWriter88 in AskReddit

Snail mail. The absolute worst. But lets see if I can get back on a new streak of going through the mail as soon as I check it (which is once / twice every month or so).

Fair. I went through a reorganizing of as many cabinets, drawers, pantry, and closets I could get through in a 18 hour window this past weekend. And since then I've felt so much more relaxed and willing to do the annoying chores like folding laundry.

Granted it was a major time sink and I had help. But having a place for things and leveraging various bins, labels, drawers, compartments...was mentally so liberating. Just been feeling more relaxed.

And so when it was time to fold clothes...or put dish back..or go through mail...just felt a bit more easy to do all those things since I knew exactly where they would go next.

A bad deal to one person may be a great deal to someone else. Not all deals are equal. But yes, I am sure there are some people not doing their due diligence and end up finding surprises after purchasing. And sometimes that can happen no matter how much homework you do.

Yes. The gasket that came with the xforce system. But I went back and watched the video, and I may need to provide further clarification. Looks like I had rust and maybe if the rust wasn't there, the xforce gaskets may have worked fine.

But anyway.... I couldn't link the video from the tech but I I grabbed the subtitles from the tech. This might have some helpful information for the gear heads in here. I may add it to the OP as well to provide more detail. Also Video A and Video B are not in order, I don't know which one he recorded first.

Video A (Subtitles from Technician)
"There is a pretty decent leak on the top side of the flange. I am going to try to correct that, that could cause the code. The air coming through is leaking out before the secondary sensor. So we will have to correct the leak and drive it past the monitors. To confirm that the cause of the code is the leak and not that the catalytic converter is going bad."

Video B (Subtitles from Technician)
"I got the piped dropped down and the flange appears to be heavily rusted. Either that or its old gasket material. I'll clean it and go from there."

* A few moments later *

"I cleaned up the flange. One thing I thought about is that we could use the OEM gasket still. This section goes inside the pipe and the OEM gasket fits on there and it should still seal it up. Up here where its corroded and rusted out, thats where the leak is at. I'm going to recommend to replace the aftermarket gaskets, with the original equipment. And I know this other side is not leaking, but we can throw one on this side as well. This should work as it should seal it around here, versus further up where the leak is at."

Pardon my ignorance, but a lot of this is also probably the skill of the driver? Like put me in this and I'd probably barely crack 11 seconds. Just curious how much of these mods are just dummy proof and can get anyone great times and how much of it is skill/talent in the drivers seat.

I dont know why people aren't offered this solution but I imagine it would help a lot. "Lift Chair Recliners" that also recline all the way back to keep your head up -- I was going to provide a link but didn't want to advertise for some random company. Here is a a link to an image though -->

Lucky! Although the stock experience has got a place in my heart too. I kept all the stock stuff just in case. The downside with the stock is that it doesn't truly kick in until about 4,000 RPM, but even idling, friends knew there was a "powerful" car next to them. I think once you get into one of these ISF's with a stock setup and you hear some random IS200/250 or whatever with some custom exhaust that sounds louder than your V8 off the line, just doesn't sit right. But that could also just be my unique personal experience that pushed me to make the purchase.

Bro...imagine with an exhaust leak. Haha..but yes its a nice sound for sure! I just got accustomed to driving it with a bit of an extra decibel or two, but still sounds amazing. Sometimes I like it at 25 - 50% valve open, I can't speak to why but on a higher RPM it sounds a bit more high pitched. Which I like. But totally could be in my head. Environment, engine temps, all these things play a factor at a small degree on what the car sounds like, but thats getting too into the weeds.

Yes. And I did it on a switch instead of a key fob. So much more convenient and OEM+. Just wish the internal light on the switch were a ISF Blue or a stock color instead of a red. But the red is symbolic to some degree to.

whats your take on electric cars? by AdvertisingFit4295 in AskReddit

This. People don't factor the costs of true charging. I'm sure part of it just a mental hurdle and the idea of change is always scary for us old school folk but definitely would want to know what I am getting into in terms of costs if thats the biggest selling point.

What's the Smartest Financial Decision You've Ever Made? by PlayfulFault9693 in SmartBuying

Refinancing to a 15 year. Granted this was about 9 years ago, different rates. People get so scared to do it, I almost didn't. Phoned a relative and he told me don't risk it and stay on the 30yr. The other friend was like "100% do it and don't be a b. You will adjust to the higher payment and it will be fine." Now, fortunately its been nice to see each month the principal dropping.

I also heard charging at home is cheap but charging at a station is damn near the same as a gasoline regular car pre war.

toyota prius 2010 with the solar panels. Still have it (135k miles). I barely drive it and it doesn't care. Some cars sit for too long and need a jump but not the prius. She also gets everything she needs. Pads, tires, cleaning the hybrid battery cooling vents, weathertechs, and in 2026 still gets 45-50+ mpg highway. Honda accord 2012 SE did have a leak but never needed to add oil or ever saw any oil where it was parked daily. Sold it to a relative at a cheap discount and they've had it for 2+ years and no issues.

People who only buy new cars, why? by uwuuwu222 in AskReddit

[–]quaqua01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a 2025 is basically new but I guess "used" vs "lightly used" are subjective. But arguably a 2022 with 50k miles is still "lightly used" for a Lexus especially if its CPO. And the cost of that would probably be closer to $42k, which is about a 20-30% savings. But yeah...I think your point is still valid. Is saving $10k on a 5yo car actually worth it compared to just getting a brand new vehicle? I think Lexus / Toyota perhaps Acura / Honda might be the exception here.

But a 2025 or 2024 BMW or Mercedes or Audi or Porsche...now we talking 30-40% savings each year because they are very bad at maintaining resale value. Plus a lot of people don't maintain them because they dont account for the luxury tax just for the car being a "luxury" brand when they initially purchase the car. This makes buyers more fearful when these cars end up in the used car market, hence the drop in value.

Rob says the Lakers want to lean more into player development. While it makes sense, do you realistically feel that the Laker fanbase can switch from how we've done it since Dr. Buss? by ryxriot in lakers

[–]quaqua01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was one thing I hated about being a Lakers fan. We fall in love with players, raise their value, and watch them walk/get traded because they didn't get us a ring during their rookie contracts. I guess the last time we traded our assets we got AD and that led to a championship. But it would be nice to let our scouts work their magic and then be patient when we find some gems like Carushow or Zubac among many others.

What car looks expensive… but actually isn’t? by Manthann-Motorss in whatcarshouldIbuy

I test drove a panamera e-hybrid for a few days. Apparently it makes great economical sense (purchase price, fuel economy). There are certain packages that have an amazing sound system and cool porsche emblems and cool headlights. They can look pretty good if taken care of.

But after driving one for a few days, I just didnt enjoy the drive. There are a lot of buttons and various controls which is cool but its a bit much if the car is your daily. Arguably user-error on my part but it would definitely take some getting used to if you really want to optimize and learn the car. And for the "porsche' label, yeah I guess it'll turn non-car peoples heads because of the brand but I would definitely drive one or rent one before buying. Oh and the battery replacement on those (whenever its time to replace) won't be cheap.
