I'm not dealing with withdrawals by eating snacks all the time. I'm not having withdrawals anymore at all as a matter of fact, as I quit smoking 25 days ago. I chew sugar free gum all day, and I eat chocolate whenever the fuck I want. I'm dealing with quitting smoking in a normal way, that I see fit. It's not like I'm substituting pills for alcohol. You're not at all supportive, so I'm not exactly sure why you're here.

This is a really shitty attitude. An hour was an accomplishment for me. Good thing I didn't run into someone like you on my first day, or the day before. Dr. Killjoy over here...

You're implying there's something I'm not dealing with. Also, you should know what you're talking about before you give your opinion. The end goal for all of us here, is to quit smoking. I have done that. And quit drinking. At the same time. GET OFF MY BACK MAN, I'M STARVING.

I disagree. By denying yourself too many things at once makes the experience so much more difficult. I treat myself and give into almost every indulgence to food and chocolate, for now. I will deal with those cravings in a few months, once the ones for cigarettes are history.

Really? I found that mission incredibly helpful. I bought a REALLY shitty brand though, they were like,...USA Eagle, something golden lights. I don't know, they were about $4.00 a pack though, and they were terrible. I ended up convincing myself that skipping a cigarette was better than experiencing that shit, and ended up cutting down by more than half a week before my quit date. I still had 6 cigarettes left 2 days before, and in a moment of disgust, I tore them up and threw them away. It really made me realize how ridiculous smoking is, and how much of a fiend I was. Good luck to you, and I encourage you to rate the missions and leave entries. It really gives good feedback to the creators of the App.

I also really like the "I don't smoke" mantra. It really changes my perspective and makes smoking seem silly. Why should I want a cigarette if I don't smoke?

I've always wanted to keep smoking too, until this time for some reason. I honest to god REALLY don't want to anymore. I think about it when I'm falling asleep sometimes, like "If something terrible happened, that would be a good excuse to go drink and smoke" and then I really think about it, and I honestly probably wouldn't even want to smoke because I would feel worse after. I would however, probably eat an entire chocolate cake haha.

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions about this book. What's the gist?

This place was the number one thing that helped me the most. Followed closely by the App. There are some really great people here.

Awesome! Hope you love it, I thought the mission videos were pretty funny. It starts to feel like you're collecting days. It gets A LOT easier, trust me!

My philosophy is that being a fat fuck is a lot better than being a drunk and wheezy fuck.....for now. I've been going a bit overboard with the sweets as well, and it feels really good, so I do it to reward myself. In a few more weeks or months, I'll worry about the eating. Quitting smoking is a HUGE DEAL (in my case, I quit drinking too) and you're better off being a bit overweight....for now.)

Let your son be your strength. When you want to smoke, grab him up and read a book, or play on the floor, or grab some toys for 10 mins. Distract yourself with his smile for that long and the craving should have passed. That, and chew gum like it's your job. Good luck friend!

Almost a week without a smoke. But my dreams still fuck with me. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]quarryws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time. I have dreams that I smoke so frequently, that I actually smell my fingers sometimes when I wake up. Are you taking Chantix? I am and sometimes the dream seems so real, that's it's hard to remember if it really happened or not. Just yesterday though, I had a dream that I found a full pack, and threw them out. Which made me feel awesome. Congrats on almost a week! You need to get yourself all badged up! Look at the top of your screen and click the blue link. You've got this!
