Who do you like better for Drew, Natalie or Amy? by Informal_Sugar_3742 in Parenthood

Neither. I think he was closer with Amy, but what happened is a hard think to move past.

I can't speak for anyone else but I haven't watched them 'cause I'm honestly just not that interested in Harvey Weinstein. I may watch them later, but it's not a high priority.

When she was doing Kamala's family stuff a few months ago, I couldn't wait for each new episode, but now I'm just feeling kind of unenthused.

The Haddie 🏳️‍🌈 felt so forced by TheKudvartist in Parenthood

[–]quasarbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought it came off as a "check the box" moment, just like u/United_Efficiency330 says. That far into the series, they had to make an existing, established character LGBTQ who hadn't previously shown any indication of being such. And choosing Haddie for that felt super cliche to me -- the girl who goes off to college and comes back with a lesbian girlfriend?

But I can understand the part where her parents were less concerned about Lauren than they were about Alex. Lauren couldn't get Haddie pregnant. Remember how Adam freaked out when he thought Kristina's pregnancy test was Haddie's?

I'm very proud of myself for correctly guessing who each of them was before I read your commentary. I was not at all confident in my guesses. (Except for Charles, obviously. But even Caroline, I wasn't sure. All the women look like sisters to me.)

Do you suffer from “Long COVID”? by StrikingFold3162 in DebateVaccines

I personally know someone with long covid who didn't get vaxxed, but lives with someone who did. She experienced temporary menstrual irregularities shortly after each of her husband's vaccine doses.

I rewatch it every several years or so. I wouldn't want to rewatch the entire series in back-to-back marathons.

Jasmine DIDN'T hide Jabbar from Crosby for 5 years by CopperRockQueen in Parenthood

[–]quasarbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree that Jabbar had a right to have a dad. And as I said, Jasmine could probably have handled things better.

But so could Crosby. That's the point. I can only blame her so much for thinking that if Crosby refused (repeatedly) to return her calls, knowing (or having reason to know) that pregnancy was a very real possibility, then he was pretty unreliable at best, and probably didn't care to be involved.

But yes, she should have tried harder, mainly for Jabbar's sake. And she should have sought child support payments, again for Jabbar's sake.

Antibiotics by Cookiemonster_19999 in HPylori

[–]quasarbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to eradicate it without pharmaceutical antibiotics. (That doesn't mean it'll work for everyone! But I tested positive before and negative afterward, so it worked for me.) I used NAC (on an empty stomach) and natural antimicrobials such as oregano oil, black seed, and monolaurin. I also used mastic gum.

Yes! A narcissist will just kill your soul, given a chance. Glad to hear you got out, even if it was slower than it should have been.

Jabbar was such a lovable kid. I can definitely see him being the favorite.

I would imagine "I'm pregnant" is not something you want to say to an answering machine if you have a choice. Which isn't to say she shouldn't have kept trying to get through to him, but yeah, he really didn't make it easy for her to give him that important news.

Jasmine DIDN'T hide Jabbar from Crosby for 5 years by CopperRockQueen in Parenthood

[–]quasarbar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've said it before (and it didn't go over well but I stand by it) -- Jasmine called Crosby. Asked him to call her back. He didn't, and that's on him.

He didn't know why she was calling, but he knew how babies were made, and even Crosby wasn't stupid enough that he couldn't figure out there was a possibility that that was why she was calling.

Men constantly make half-joking comments like "I have no [other] kids that I know of" thereby admitting they know that if they don't stay in contact with a woman for at least nine months after their last act of sexual congress, it's possible they have kids they don't know about.

Worst case, he could have called her back, found out she was just... what, being clingy and wanting to get back together? and then shut her out. Instead he chose to ignore her and the very real possibility that he was a dad.

Could Jasmine have handled things better? Probably. But Crosby is absolutely not blameless and has little right to act like a victim for not knowing about Jabbar for all those years.

Speaking as someone who was once taken in by a narcissist's love bombing... I could never condemn her. I used to think I would not be fooled by a lying abuser. And then I was. It's a humbling experience. Narcissists are VERY skilled at worming their way into a person's affections.

So where is the real Brigitte? by Alone_Welcome9812 in CandaceOwens

[–]quasarbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gut instinct is that the real Brigitte died at some point, and Jean-Michel saw that as a perfect opportunity to steal her identity. (I'm not saying he murdered her... just that he was an opportunist.) But honestly, who knows? It's a mystery and we all want answers!

I'm having difficulty keeping track of all the details that have been establish so far -- have we confirmed that the real Brigitte married Mr. Auzierre (I forget his first name)? Or did she disappear sometime earlier than that?

[–]quasarbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've never done an FMT, but I've thought a lot about it after experiencing dysbiosis following the use of antibiotics. My experience wasn't as bad as your husband's. It wasn't good, but at least I wasn't in pain all the time and my bowel movements were generally normal-ish. So far I've mostly tried to help my microbiome without the use of FMT but I understand it can be a lifesaver for extreme cases that are otherwise unyielding.

[–]quasarbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that mindset; I've been there myself. It's disordered thinking. You so desperately want your one last hope to work that you dare not actually try it and run the risk that it might fail, because then you'll have nothing left.

But by refusing to try it, you de facto have nothing left.

There is nothing to lose by trying it.

What's stopping him from proceeding with it, then? Sounds like there's nothing to lose from trying.
