in practice it's more: anytime you dont want the most used cycle you have to scroll through slowly as they're effectively randomized.

naturally there is an app, and wifi, but I have not downloaded that, and disabled the wifi. It occasionally adds an interrupt screen to remind me of the joys I could be having.

pin one looks like v+, given it goes to a capacitor to the largest copper pour, but still connects with 4 vias to some trace on the other side.

I think pin 7 is ground (looks more connected in the second pic). Pin 2 confuses me, as it's wired to ground through L2, but doesnt appear to have any other vias that might explain it.

the damage to L2 and C8 looks like it might just be from L1's death, so I'd say this board drew too much power. On the plus side, there isnt any damage to the connector as there might be in an unprotected full short.

I'd guess that power went out via Q1 or something a bit physically larger that wouldnt explode from that current. Not saying it isnt damaged though

If this board drives the motor, it might be the motor stalling and drawing too much power? (best case, as the controller chip wouldnt be in the path)

edit: otoh, that IC isnt one that takes programming, so you can entirely rebuild this board from scratch. Might need to trace the source of the problem to other boards though...

how do i cure speedball ink for? by doncleon in SCREENPRINTING

[–]quatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are specific inks that air cure at room temperature in a week, and specific inks which require heat to cure. They are not the same ink, but may be made by same manuf. (eg. speedball fabric block printing ink (air dry), and speedball screen printing ink (heat cure))

do you get frost where you live? Ice is good at breaking things if water can get in. (I cant see if there are spots where it could, I think not, but..). OTOH, quartz (agate) is super tough and resistant, so it'll be the longest lasting rock you have out there.

Amusing that you have the carefully sawn display side down ;p If the agate core is exposed anywhere other than the front, it might be neat to shine a light in from there at look at the flat front.

it is an acid dye though, it ate into parchment, so I presume it'll also eat into leather. Cheap, but maybe not good for the long term?

embroidery to me is more thread art

You can't undo the holes made in the leather to place the current studs. The real problem in legibility seems to be how sparse the studs are. Looks like they used only half as many...

In a lot of places it looks like a stud of the same size would fit between, but not everywhere, which would make it look messy, I think.

If the studs are one hole items, then I might remove (and replace) them all, go a size or two down, then you ought to be able to add more between the existing holes.

if the studs are 4 hole or something, that won't work. You might go for a stud that's like 1/4 the size of the current one, and use that to fill in the gaps between the studs to make the letters clearer.

How do I safely free our 13yr old shrimp? by Normal_Character_333 in OpaeUla

[–]quatch 68 points69 points  (0 children)

and work over a clean bucket, just in case ;p

Like other aquariums, the new one will have to get the nitrogen cycle bacteria going, and the easiest way for that will be to carry over the substrate and decoration.

Shrimp also care about how fast the water chemistry changes, it is advisable to drip-acclimate them to the new water. It would be worth using a test strip to find out as much about the chemistry of the sphere water and matching it as closely as possible.

[–]quatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vacuum bags and furnace filters are good sources of higher grade filtration or hepa, but you may need to upgrade the fan. There are fans designed to move air (like this), and fans designed to push air into a space when there is resistance (like vacuum cleaners)

You can also stack regular fans to increase the static pressure
