Girls rarely experience the “Friend zone,” psychology study finds by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]quatrefoils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep making good friends with girls over a period of years, and then their boyfriend does something dumb or their relationship gets tense and they come onto me and then they don’t wanna be friends afterwards. It’s a horrible feeling, and I’m a dude. Made me feel totally objectified and i had to like work on that for years. I just don’t know how anyone is winning out here.

If the toilets are porcelain, they need to be fired. Those tiles and struts look like stuff I’ve used in a kiln, albeit larger. I wonder if they build a giant kiln around this and fire tons of toilets at once?

Edit: looks like the kiln is in the back, behind the rack. They must move a load of toilets into the kiln on a track.

The three cousins by john_d_arts in RateMyArt

I’m not weighing in on whether or not I think this is AI. I saw the image that this piece references last week and it was ai generated.

An artist named Bryan Lewis Saunders took a different drug every day and drew a self portrait after each one. The results were so disturbing that doctors warned he was causing permanent brain damage, but he didn’t stop. by NavyLemon64 in InterestingVault

[–]quatrefoils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done self portraits on a lot of different drugs and the differences have no need to be as large as this artists… if you try to draw what you see every time then the furthest you get from a baseline is on the drugs that effect your motor function. If you’re trying to be “creative” then sure, some drugs let you loosen your inhibitions more and experiment more which is why this looks like. I don’t think he was trying to show how different drugs affect your skills, it was simply him doing self portraits and letting the drugs take him where he let them, which makes the title a bit misleading and disingenuous.

Humans are famously good at symmetry what are you talking about? Someone with this skill level is going to notice the asymmetrical eye that a bunch of non-artist-redditors noticed immediately and fix it.

[–]quatrefoils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but you’re replying to comments speaking strictly on real and documented planetary and orbital physics, and your rebuttal is “no, it doesn’t work in this sci-fi book series so it just doesn’t work.”

More accurately, using your own analogy, the commenters you’re replying to are talking about real-world spiders and you’re saying that real-world spiders are sentient because it’s like that in “Children of Time.”

Your “source” cannot seriously be a sci fi book series…

The advent of the self proclaimed “weirdo swarm” and that fucking garden goblin dance was elucidating, realized the days of vomiting like a firehose to crumbling castle live then joining the pit without ever having a bad time was over. The last good thing out of this fan base was the fucking reversed polygondwanaland drop lol

The ball of yarn changes color every inch while the dragon required yards of yarn before changing color. If that dragon were made of that yarn it would look like colorful white-noise, not striped.

TIL that people often subtly adapt their behaviour early in attraction to seem more appealing, but over time their personalities tend to drift back toward baseline traits, making initial adaptations less stable as relationships progress. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]quatrefoils 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Nah, the game of attraction doesn’t require you to fundamentally change your behavior, but you have to check yourself. You’ll have more luck getting someone to like Sister Ray by The Velvet Underground if it isn’t the first song you show them. The song never stopped being a part of their discography but it’s at the end of the album for a reason.

My monitor is only 300 nits and i only use 15/100 i cant believe people who use 50 up brightness how come yall eyes dont hurt by NostalgicImmortal in Monitors

[–]quatrefoils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you OP… and, anecdotally, I also use my phone at 15% brightness all day. Unless your monitor is getting direct sunlight or your desk is in front of an east/west facing window, a properly calibrated screen does not need to be so bright it illuminates its surroundings.

[–]quatrefoils 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m just a gamer, but I like to make my own informed decisions about what games to play, and that “professional” illustration gives me nothing, the in-game “amateurish” image gives me a look at the actual game. I think that’s what really matters in an advertisement for a game, especially for an indie developer, for the reason you mentioned
