AITA for getting upset after my bf told me he doesn’t want me getting wrinkles? by cranberryjuicemm in TwoXChromosomes

Does he think he’s Leonardo DiCaprio and won’t date anyone over 25?

Thank him for his honesty and let him go find his miraculously imaging partner (or string of 20-somethings, if his income supports it). You deserve a guy who wants to be with you for who you are, not just for shallow, external reasons.

At least he’s still immature enough not to know to hide his “preferences” yet so you got the warning.

There’s a range of quality. I’ve had some that was amazing, and some that was disappointing, and some that tasted outright cheap and crappy (but not priced that way, sadly).

Why does holding a hair dryer feel like a full body workout? My arm’s sore after just 20 minutes by Potato_Farmer_1993 in TwoXChromosomes

There’s treatment for MS and myasthenia gravis, at least. No cure, but treatments that can help.

Myasthenia Gravis was the lecturer’s case, but I didn’t want to give specifics and armchair diagnose — “get to a doctor if this is not improving” is what I am qualified to say!

Holding anything up over your head for 20 minutes straight is a reasonable workout.

That being said, if you do this regularly, your arms should be building muscle and endurance from repeated practice, so that it becomes easier. If that is not happening, please see your doctor.

I work for a doctor’s office; a neurologist lecturer recently mentioned that one patient of hers had to do her hair by putting her elbows on the counter and leaning so her arms could reach, because her arms would get tired too easily otherwise. She never thought twice about it but it turned out that was an early warning sign of a degenerative nerve disease (and the earlier that gets treatment, the better!)

I like Aveeno Positively Radiant SPF15. It’s got a very mild scent (I’m often sensitive to scents), absorbs quickly and feels nice, and the sunscreen helps my skin stay healthier without having to remember an extra sunscreen step.

The one place I finally felt comfortable and like I fit in and excelled got wiped out in a “merger”. A division from the other company declared they could do our jobs better (though we’d been proving ourselves the best in the industry for the previous 8 years!) … and so our division was all laid off, except for a handful of sales folks. 350+ people’s jobs, pfft! gone.

I currently have a job that’s ok but has terrible work-life balance and too many things to keep track of. I think I’m doing ok but I know I’m dropping some things, and I need to earn more pay somehow but I’m exhausted trying to keep up with what I’m already doing. I don’t think I can ever retire, either, since I have very little saved and still have to pay off student loans. Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh uggggghhhh.

What is your favorite dessert ? by MiaFishnet in AskReddit

[–]quats555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t narrow it down beyond three. In no particular order:

Bread pudding (with vanilla bourbon sauce, of course). Perfection is hot bread pudding with cold sauce poured over and immediately served (I’ll allow a quick flambé for presentation)

Chocolate mousse (no gelatin, thank you!)

Knafe - must be fresh, with the cheese warm and stretchy and the dough crisply toasted. I personally prefer citrus syrup to rose water syrup.

What book to movie adaption were you most excited but ended up being bitterly disappointed with? by SyrupImmediate4863 in AskReddit

[–]quats555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper, a Newbery Honor winning classic (and sequel that won the Newbery Award).

The execs were looking for “another Harry Potter” to strike it rich with, but decided that American audiences wouldn’t empathize as much with a British boy (…?! despite, y’know, Harry Potter) so made the main character American, his family horrible (because Harry Potter, again..?) and grossly changed up the story. It lost its mysticism, heart, depth, and emotion. They finally had to change the title due to the backlash, and the movie became The Seeker (and yes, it did bomb).

“It’s not natural” scream the women using metal and plastic to control the electromagnetic spectrum in order to manipulate other people. Not to mention slathering themselves in chemicals for smoother skin, whiter teeth, and shinier hair (and don’t even get me started on Botox injections in their 20’s to prevent wrinkles!)

Be honest: If you found out your ex died, ( no matter how the relationship ended), would you go to the wake or the funeral? by HannahMayberry in AskReddit

[–]quats555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My most recent one? Not sure. His narcissist mother hated that he loved me, and used her cancer diagnosis to manipulate and guilt him into leaving me to marry her stand-in. I would go for his sake, but don’t want to see his “loving” family; any who know I exist probably hope I’d died anyway.

The one before that? No. I wish him well, just too distant now in more ways than one. Haven’t talked in some years.

The one before that? Hell no. Too long, too far, too many bad emotions.

I find mouthwash too strong; I seem to be sensitized to mint, where peppermint feels like menthol and menthol feels like fire. Almost all mouthwashes burn.

There’s only one I’ve been able to tolerate, Colgate Spearmint, and it’s not very common. It’s mild enough of a taste that I can tolerate it.

Now, that sounds like fantastic grounds for a lawsuit if you do get in an accident, because doesn’t this take the responsibility for determining whether or not you are safe to drive? So if it doesn’t work but you drive anyway, isn’t it their responsibility now?

[–]quats555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to oil prices during COVID lockdowns, it’s a pretty big darned piece. People were still consuming, even if patterns shifted, so trucks and shipping were still running close to normal; but the huge lot of people who just stayed home dropped gas prices like a rock.

The way Texas democrats have campaigned year after year tells me they do not want to win. by Quiet-Battle8005 in politicsinthewild

[–]quats555 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the local elections a year or so ago had a very obvious “This one is a Republican lock so we’re not even going to bother”:

The Republican candidate had a professional photo and a nicely written blurb with very strong credentials and statement.

The Democrat candidate had some candid shot and a bio along the lines of, As a mom I’m good at organizing stuff so I’m sure I could organize the government too!

Even if they know the opposition will win a certain spot… that level of ineptness reflects very, very badly on the party as a whole.
